Reflections on Spurrier:
I understand a good number of folks would like to see him as the next head coach at The Capstone, but I'm not in that camp.
It shocked me, as it likely did everyone else, that he accepted the position at south carolina. Why would any coach with aspirations - rather A NEED - to win a National Championship accept that job? Let me clarify this statement:
THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL SOUTH CAROLINA WILL WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN SPURRIERS LIFETIME
Any casual fan can recognize that. There simply isn't a talent base, facilities are shit, fans accept mediocrity, on and on.
I don't want a coach who doesnt have a burning desire to win a MNC. If you are an experienced head coach, one who has experienced great success both in the SEC and nationally, one who could pretty much pick any head coaching gig in the nation and have it, why the hell would you go there? It's not to win a championship that's certain. So fuck steve spurrier. Nothing but a quote machine these days. And an occasional thorn in the side for the SEC East, but he won't be a contender there.
I want someone with higher aspirations. He had them at one point, obviously, but he doesn't now.
