A good friend of mine...

...has an old cooler from back in the day with a Stallions bumper sticker proudly displayed. It's fun to pull that thing out of the trunk in the parking lot at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington.

Speaking of the ponies - y'all remember the unfortunately mismanaged Birmingham Race Course? Not the sad dog track it's become, but the beautiful, sparkling facility for thoroughbreds?

Indeed I do...

My old man used to own race horses so I grew up on the backside of a bunch of tracks. The Birmingham Race Course was definetely a nice place in it's glory days, but it is a sad sad place now.

When I was little...

...I didn't realize that the Stallions' cheerleaders were nicknamed "The Fillies." I kept hearing about an autograph session with them on the radio and I thought they meant the Philadelphia Phillies and kept asking my parents to take me.

I think they were shocked their 6 or 7 year old son wanted to go to an autograph session with a bunch of cheerleaders, but they agreed to take me. When they asked me if I had one person whose autograph I really wanted, I said, "Pete Rose."
