Rodriguez offered job according to Mobile Press Register

The Mobile Press-Register is reporting that Rich Rodriguez has been offered the head coaching job at Alabama and that an answer could come as early as today.

No firm reports on the money on the table, but it's been suggested that it's in the neighborhood of 2.2 million, which is double Rodriguez's current salary.

Here's a significant quote from the story:

A source close to the process said today that Moore decided late Wednesday he could not wait until after the NFL season to speak directly to Miami Dolphins coach Nick Saban about the Alabama vacancy.

If that's true, then I have a bit more faith that this search is being conducted better than recent searches.

There is now way in fucking hell UA offered 5/yr to Nick Saban. I don't give a shit who he is.

Now this RR deal timing looks good. Does it leak from the Alabama side if UA doesn't already know his answer? I doubt it.

for one,

the univ couldn't offer a 10 yr deal b/c state law limits state employee contracts to no more than 7 yrs.
2. we wouldn't offer RR within knowledge that he will accept.

It was probably AU fans trying to ruin the deal with Rod by spreading such BS. I am reluctant to count it in the bag until the name is on the dotted line. Would be nice to have someone in place to get recruiting back on track. Do you think he may keep Kines in some capacity? I feel he has done a pretty decent job with the defense and I don't know what RR may bring with him.
