While real life rudely intrudes...

This is going to be a pretty rough week for me, so I'm not sure what all I'll be able to get done. The picks results, my Top 25, the SEC Power Poll, and the regular picks post at the end of the week are all on schedule, but beyond that I don't know how much I'll be posting. OTS has plenty on tap for y'all, though, so hopefully things won't be too boring around here. In the meantime, as requested, your bonus Monday McPhee:

You're welcome.

thanks for the Monday McPhee...
I needed that.  Tough loss, about as tough as they get.
The bottom line is the team with more playmakers won the game.
The direction BAMA's program is headed is obvious.
We need to win out the rest of the season and win our Bowl game.  If we do that I would consider the season a success.

I would consider the season a success
anyway.  I mean, we already won two games most thought we wouldnt (Ark and UT).  We nearly beat GA and LSU; I would hope we beat Auburn.

going 9-4 and winning a bowl game is cool with me!

BTW, McPhee is H-O-T!!!!!

8-4...
...was my measuring stick for a successful year and I stand by it. We're 6-3 right now, haven't lost a game by more than 7 points even when playing like garbage and should pick up two out of our remaining three at least. The bowl game is pretty irrelevant in my mind to success for season 1 of the Saban era.

I'm of the opinion...
...that we can win out, get to the Cotton Bowl, and possibly finish 10-3. Now THAT would be a successful season.

I too had set the bar...
...at 8-4 during the preseason. And I'll be pleased if that's where we stand on December 1st. Still, I want the Auburn game this year like a fire wants oxygen.

Still, I would already rate year one of the Saban era as a success:

  • the kids are making very few boneheaded mistakes  (stupid penalties, missing routes, etc.)
  • despite the relative lack of depth, they're playing 60 minutes every week (credit conditioning)
  • very few injuries (again, credit conditioning)
  • the reciprocal team/coach confidence level is at a level I've not seen in a very long time - probably since the Stallings era
  • recruiting is vastly improved
This year, I think, has seen the laying of a very solid foundation. The future's looking awfully nice.
