You've Been Irished!

Woo hoo! I've coined a term! From now on, whenever a team gets whipped in a bowl that they either a) didn't deserve to be in in the first place, or b) got whipped after whining about how they should be playing in a better bowl, we'll refer to it as "getting Irished." Here are a few examples:

Oklahoma

got Irished in 2003 & 2004. 2003 in the Sugar Bowl, and 2004 I think in the Orange Bowl.

I wouldn't say they got Irished...

...in the Sugar Bowl. It was a pretty close game and LSU's defense won that one, but they certainly got the Irished treatment by USC in the Orange Bowl.

I know. I just wish we could have played USC, and ended a lot of the USC whining and claims of back to back national championships. Maybe this will needle some of those bitches.

Don't forget Kansas State

I like "getting Irished" as a term for getting blown out of the water in a bowl you had no business going to in the first place, but when a team goes to a bowl that's not as good as what they thought they should've gotten and then proceeds to get punked by a supposedly inferior team, I think that should be called a case of "K-State Syndrome." The classic example was when Kansas State rolled to an 11-0 record in 1998 and was one quarter away from playing Tennessee in the national-title game, but got beat in double-OT in the Big 12 championship and got knocked all the way down to the Alamo Bowl. Where they proceeded to lose to 8-4 Purdue, a 2-TD underdog.
