Hey i was curious to know how has Devonta Bolton and Brandon Lewis been doing in the Jr. Colleges! Also what was the schools they went two, if im not mistaken didnt they go to the same Jr College. Also i was curious to know if Jermaine Preyear was at a Jr College, i remember the other two going to one. But i never heard about Jermaine, maybe they did post something about him on the front page and i never got a chance to read it! Anyways thanks for the help and have a blessed week. RTR!!!

Best. Quote. Ever.
And I hope it is always true.

I was thinking about that quote yesterday
…(and this isn’t picking on you), but you know if we had a Heisman winner all of a sudden that we’d be ridiculously giddy about it whether he was on a championship winning team or not. I personally don’t care much about the Heisman as I don’t think it often goes to the best player (or even the most valuable player), I think it’s a statistics fest and a popularity contest (tell me Darren McFadden wasn’t better than Troy Smith…gimme a freakin’ break.) And what, one defensive player ever has won it? That being said, you know it’s gotta help with recruiting.
I'm sure many Bama fans...
…would be ridiculously giddy, and that’s fine, but I will never wish that upon us. I was happy for David Palmer, Eric Curry, Derrick Thomas, Cornelius Bennett, and others that they got national recognition to help boost their NFL draft status, but I was also thankful that none of them actually received the trophy. It’s not that I don’t care for individual awards; it’s just that the Heisman is the ultimate in individual recognition, magnified beyond its significance, almost to the point of being greater than a national title. I love football and other team sports because of what they teach you about the value of doing your best, but doing your best to lift others up as you face challenges together.
As a kid, I loved watching Coach Bryant shuttle players in and out of the lineup over and over again for the good of the team, even when those coming off the field were performing well. He always put the team first. I mean, do you know how few times Ozzie Newsome got a chance to catch a ball at Bama? He’s only considered the greatest TE to ever play in the NFL.
I think there are three things that help most with recruiting: Will I play? Will we win? Will I make it to the next level? That last one isn’t important to every player, but the first two are. What I love about Coach Saban is, like Bryant, he puts a lot of players on the field, he wins games (and championships), and he knows how to prepare players for the NFL as well as, and probably better than, anyone in the college game.
Also, I don’t know how many Heisman winners I’ve seen flop, either immediately in a bowl game, or soon after with the NFL. Vinny Testaverde’s pick fest vs. Penn State comes to mind, as does another Miami QB I have mentioned before, the final two words in any Heisman discussion: Gino. Torretta.

Updates...
I’m not sure off-hand about how Bolton and Lewis are doing. I’ll see if I can find something out.
Anyway, as for Preyear, he qualified academically, but delayed his enrollment at the university due to a shoulder injury. Essentially they are going to get the shoulder healed up, and then he is going to enroll at Alabama in January. He will be with the team and participate in Spring practice. He qualified, but the injury forced the delayed enrollment.

I totally agree with yall!!!
i mean having a Heisman would be really awesome to add to the awesome tradition we love at the capstone! but its not what we are so desperately missing, right now i think winning a certain game(Auburn) is huger in the minds of bama fans!!! but yeah adding a Heisman winner to that, would be a cherry on top of an ice cream! i have had many auburn fans come up to me and just rub in my face, you can win 12 national titles but a player can’t win a Heisman. I sit and i think before i talk, and say, its all well and good that auburn has more heisman winners than national titles, but if you can’t win the big one then all your left with is a player with a empty finger and heavy trophy. You can’t carry that trophy around everywhere but ya can sure flash that ring!! I think id rather have a team, than a teamate! Hey thanks for the info outsidethelines, and hope to hear on those two boys soon
