...to quote the great Earl Hickey.

I have enjoyed the meltdown on the Plains as much as the next guy but have kept my dog out of that fight; content to wait until late December for the good guys in Crimson to take care of business. What I would like to point out is how many times in the last few years, from probation to Club Shula to Louisiana-Monroe, how many times their fans have poked, prodded, mocked, and laughed hysterically at Alabama's struggles. Even serious issues of gun and drug violence sprouted a cottage t-shirt industry (Parole Tide, anyone?)

Now that the Good Riverboat Tuberville is imploding and Alabama is currently seated among the nation's elite again (even if only for another week), all I hear from Little Brother is 'six in a row!' and 'this time last year you lost to ULM!'

NOW who is living in the past?

When Tide fans mention 12 National Titles, 21 SEC Titles, or a NINE year win streak in the Iron Bowl, we are 'delusional' and 'living in the past'. Right now, a six year win streak must seem like an eternity.

I am proud of our tradition but my feet and focus are planted squarely in the present.

Roll Tide, ladies and gentlemen. As Coach Bryant would say, let's show class on the field, in the stands, and on the message boards. Let us also enjoy the ride.

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

I couldn't have said it better myself

so I won’t! Let’s just hope for a team squarely focused on Ole Miss for the next 6 days. RTR.

Is there a scenario in which

UT or Auburn has even a shot at anything significant?

by TennesseeTide on Oct 12, 2008 10:21 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No...

Just to be brutally honest, no.

Tennessee is currently 2-4 and 0-3 in the SEC. Even if you assume they run the table from here, they finish up 8-4 and third in the SEC West, and are likely headed to the Music City or Liberty Bowl. Auburn is currently 4-3, and 2-3 in the SEC. Even if you assume they run the table from here, they finish up 9-3 and third in the SEC West, which at absolute best would put them in the Peach Bowl or the Gator Bowl. Long story short, even if both of these two go undefeated from here on out, they won’t be able to do anything of any true signficance.

More likely, though, Tennessee still loses a few more. They should lose to Alabama, and are likely looking at at least one loss out of MSU / South Carolina / Kentucky / Vanderbilt. That will likely put them at 6-6. Auburn should still lose to Alabama and Georgia, which would put them at 7-5 and an upset away from 6-6. And true they should beat Ole Miss, WVU, etc., but when you are beating MSU 3-2, losing to Vandy, and losing to Arkansas, both of those games could easily be losses.

At this point, realistically speaking, I think the best case scenario each team is likely either them heading to Memphis or Shreveport. On the bottom end, Auburn should be able to get to 6-6 and make a bowl, but frankly there’s a pretty decent chance that UT ends up at 5-7.

I would love...

…for the Barn to go to Shreveport, since they certainly dissed it when we went. And UcheaT not to go at all? Sounds like a good plan for the pumpkins. I’ll go with that.

Personally speaking ..

… I’d like to see both UcheaT and the Barn get it together and eek out a few more wins but in unimpressive fashion, with the exception of course of their certain demise at the hands of the ROLLING TIDE! My reasons are simple, I want Ears Tupperware and Phat Phyllis to retain their pathetic HC positions for another year or two so that The Tide can inflict at least two or three years of long-awaited domination and humiliation ON THE FIELD! With that the Bama fans can truly demonstrate to them how to handle success with class and dignity!! Rammer jammer yellow hammer give ’em hell Alabama, ROLL TIDE ROLL!!

Besides that,

when you’re in “the chase” it’s always better for BAMA to beat a team with a winning record instead of a losing record. No matter how much we may despise our rivals we should always want them to come into their game with BAMA with as good a record as possible and for them to win out after BAMA destroys them ON THE FIELD … it only serves our best interest!

My brain...

…totally agrees with you. It’s my heart and emotions that get in the way of that.
