Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

New member

I've read this blog for a few months now and really enjoy it.  Like me, you all have way too much of your self worth and outlook on the world tied to how Alabama does on Saturdays.  But, you also seem to realize this and are able to keep a healthy sense of perspective and humor about it.

At least, that seems to be the case -- Alabama hasn't lost since I discovered this site, and if you're like me, you're just not yourself then.  I remember seeing Chuck Davis in the swarm of people leaving BDS after the 5 OT loss to UT in 2003 (I think it was UT - lots of losses that year) and yelling "Avenge me!" like Harry Dean Stanton in Red Dawn.  That was a proud moment.  Luckily, I don't think he heard me.   Or he was just ignoring me, and can you blame him?  Doesn't matter.  We're 6-0 now and that season seems like another lifetime or something I saw in a movie.

I guess that can qualify as my first embarrassing admission.  I've got another one I'm saving for the Auburn game that is much, much worse.  But if it means a win over Auburn, I say tell it all brother, tell it all.

Roll Tide everybody!

P.S.  What happened to Bocephus?

welcome aboard...

…and Bocephus, like a lot of other “regular” features, is just one of those things that routinely gets lost in the shuffle of my increasingly forgetful and scattered brain. But hey, 6-0!

Welcome!

I think you are expecting way too much of us if you think we have way too much of our self worth and outlook on the world tied to how Alabama does on Saturdays. lol

Glad to have you...

…and just remember on Friday in order to help us keep winning, you have to bitch about Brittany Snow as RBR sweetheart.

Unless you're...

…Todd, who’s eyesight is good enough to write fantastic posts yet poor enough to continue to back Snow. Oops—not Friday yet. Welcome, NHB.

Hey...

…like I said before: http://www.rollbamaroll.com/2008/9/24/620813/submit-your-questions-for#8957118, my theory is that the more we sacrifice relative to our supposed “hottie,” the more we’ll be favored come Saturday. Seriously, if we continue with our success I’ll nominate Snow for RBR Babe Emeritas.

Thanks for the welcome everybody,

By the way, I feel somewhat indebted to Brian Cook. I stumbled on this site as a result of the dust up over Bama “cutting” players. Todd, I (of course) thought your arguments were well-reasoned and persuasive and you proved Cook wrong at every turn.

I guess blogging is like hip hop — a feud can be good for business. I’m glad it’s died down though and you all are participating in the Blog poll. I like that feature and his weekly awards in particular.

Admitting I like something on MGoBlog? Is that embarrassing admission #2?

I like something on MGoBlog...

…reading about their pain almost every week this season.

Your Point.

Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

You know...

… we really need to get together on that whole required reading thing for RBR newbies.

I talked about it a few weeks back on the radio show, but we haven’t done anything about it since.

Indeed...

I can think of a couple of threads of yours and Nico’s right off the top of my head. I’ll have to dig deep for Todd, but I’m sure I can find something. jk
