Letter from the Nicktator...
ed. - bumped from the fanposts
I received this a little while ago in my email. He is basically calling for all of the students to come to the game and show our support. Just seems like the typical run of the mill email. I doubt he even saw it, but I'm sure he gave his blessing. By the way...I never got one of these from Shula....
Dear UA Students,
It has been a tremendous honor to see and hear the excitement that you, as the student body of the University of Alabama, have created this football season. The team and coaching staff appreciate the support and encourage you to fill the stands for the remaining home games. Having the student section full adds a level of enthusiasm that only you can bring.
It is our request, if you are unable to attend a game, that you donate your ticket to another student so as many students as possible are there to cheer on the Crimson Tide. If you cannot use your ticket, please give it to another student by visitingwww.actcard.ua.edu.
This weekend we host the Ole Miss Rebels. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30pm CDT and student gates open at 12:00pm. The team comes out for warm-ups around 1:30pm Saturday. Having our fans in the stands early means a lot to our players and also makes a great impression on visiting prospective student-athletes and their parents as they take part in the Bryant-Denny Stadium experience. We look forward to another packed and loud student section on Saturday.
Thank you for your support and ROLL TIDE!
Coach Saban

I remember...
In 2000 when we (the LSU students) all got an email from Saban after the Tennessee game that year. We had won in OT and rushed the field. We all got an email from Saban a few days later saying that he appreciated our enthusiasm but that rushing the field would no longer be tolerated at LSU because from now on we will “expect to win those games”. I don’ t think I’ve ever been more pumped up ever.

Well
He didn’t write that email, thats for sure. There was no talk about the process and how we as fans should cheer relative to our commitment to the team….

Yep
He definitely didn’t write nor ever saw the letter. I wanted to reply and ask him if we could start running the spread but it was a no reply address.

This is an absolute joke
and it really pisses me off. The student section is always packed to the brim and if they would give the students another 8,000 seats every single one of them would be packed as well.

That's what I was wondering ...
Since when did UofA students need to be encouraged “to fill the stands” for an undefeated Alabama squad at home against an SEC opponent? I’ll admit to tailgating well into the second quarter a few too many times when I was a student there (‘93-’97), but that was reserved for the 11:00 kickoffs against the lowliest of non-conference teams.

I think the problem is
that the new paperless ticket system makes it a little harder to sell tickets at the last minute, so some of them go unused. They’re trying to get people to donate their tickets to the ticket pool on myBama if they aren’t going to use them.

All they
are trying to do is push the new system to sell/give/trade student tickets. I bet he did not even read that letter.
Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I'm sure he read it
Coach Saban does not sound like the type of man who would allow an email or any other type of letter to be distributed in his name without giving it his personal blessing.
This letter going out, in my opinion, is an excellent example of his attention to detail. Every detail. He understands as well as we all do the importance of the fans and he is making an extra effort to give us fans our part of the ownership of the team’s success. They certainly win the games and take ownership of that but he is giving us the credit that we are due. I really appreciate that. He actually addressed that in his closing statements on the “Hey Coach” show last night. I love the way he involves everyone in the team’s success. It makes being a fan that much more fun. He knows that he does not have to send out an email to fill the student section or any other part of the stadium. Hell, we packed the stadium with 2 practice games.
Coach Saban is just trying to make us his “12th man on the field” like he said on the Hey Coach show last night. That shouldn’t piss anyone off. Makes me feel like part of the team. It actually has me kind of pumped up. I am going to go do 3 pushups and take some Milk of Magnesia (spelling?)
This is just an example of the attention to detail that has made him, and his teams, as successfull as they are. I am not willing to question anything that man says or does at this point.

He does talk with his hands
I have noticed that as well, but I don’t care. I guess it can get annoying but I think it is just a security blanket for him because he has never seemed comfortable talking to groups of people. There is not a lot of diplomacy with him because he has a goal that he is hell bent on reaching and he doesn’t seem to suffer fools very well.
I don’t care if he talks with his hands, or line dances during the press conferences, as long as he does not start doing this:
Teeing up an imaginary golf ball while he is talking to me. Anyone ever do that to you? I HATE THAT !!!!!!!!! Literal translation to that goofy body lanquage… I am so disinterested in this conversation that I am going to play an imaginary golf game.
You know what, the next time some cubicle jockey does that to me I am going to fall back to throw an imaginary pass. I might even scramble around in the pocket a little bit. How funny would that look to someone who is looking on but out of earshot? The only way it could be funnier is if I was a porn star by trade.

laugh out loud
So true!! What you should do is get down in a 4 point stance and show him the correct helmet placement on a text book tackle….

Trust me he wrote it. It might not look happy, but it’s happy!
