Alabama vs. Duke 2010 to be at Wallace Wade Stadium
I know a number of you disagree with me, but I think this is great.

I'm fine with it...
…as they should hold the game wherever Duke wants. I’m just worried about getting a ticket!

Tokyo!
Duke and Clemson played in Tokyo in 1991?!?!!?!
Somebody at Bama needs to make this happen in a big way. I’d love to see us play in another country. That would be so awesome.
Think of the marketing opportunities for that game.
We’re the Crimson Tide, one of the most famous Japanese art works of all time (in the West anyway) is The Great Wave Off Kanagawa:

Kanagawa is in the greater Tokyo area. We’d have the Japanese fans on our side instantly! Somebody make this happen!

Plus . . .
Alabama has a strong contingent of Japanese exchange students. And they play American football in Japan (I actually had a Japanese roommate one year, and he had played football in college in Japan). So we would have strong support there.

There was a big thing...
…during the Boise State game last night about football in Japan. Apparently Boise hosted a bunch of Japanese college football coaches during their spring training.

Like
Troy’s billboard says on I65 – “Anybody, Anywhere!” or something like that…

I thought that was the Fresno State motto.

I think...
I think that is the motto for a ton of non-BCS schools out there.
They should amend it to, “Anybody, Anywhere… As long as you have a million plus dollar check waiting on us when we get there.”

southern miss
says the same thing…but ole miss and msu won’t dare play them simply because USM has everything to gain, whereas UM and MSU have everything to lose. ANYONE. ANYWHERE. ANYTIME. RTR

I predict
that Duke has never seen anything like the Bama Nation. When we play Vandy in Nashville it is like a home game for Bama. When we play at Duke the stadium will be more Crimson than Blue. It is going to be fun.

Duke @ Home
I watched Duke at home this year and all the fans that were there wouldn’t fill up an end zone at BD. But by 2010, Cutcliff may have that team on a roll. ( He is still a Bama Man).
On another note are WW and the BD stadiums the only field or stadium named after a former coach of Alabama?

I believe so...
…but Clemson’s Frank Howard Stadium is named for a former Bama player.

Right...
Frank Howard was a starter at Alabama on our 1930 national championship team that drubbed Washington State in the Rose Bowl.
Aside from Alabama, Duke, and Clemson, I cannot think of any stadiums named for Alabama-related players / coaches, but that could change when Bobby Bowden officially retires at FSU.

The field at FSU . . .
is already named Bobby Bowden Field. The stadium is still Doak Campbell.

Doak Campbell
Completely random, and I’ve never thought of it, but how cool of a name is Doak? I may name my son that.

Calling all Nico2.0s...
…and completely off topic, but there is a cool show on APT right now called Live From Birmingham showing a band called the Dirtbombs from Detroit and other bands play at Bottletree, and I mention it in part because, when I first saw the lead singer, I thought I was getting to see TV on the Radio, and, as much as I like TV, I’m glad it wasn’t them, because the Dirtbombs rock, and how’s this for a Faulkneresque run-on sentence?

I caught the tail end of that....
The Dirtbombs are awesome. I was at that show and I actually saw myself in some of the crowd shots!
BTW, The Dirtbombs are opening for TV on the Radio on their upcoming tour. That’s going to be a heck of a double bill.
