Ten things I've learned so far...

1.) Nick Saban's $4 million a year paycheck is the wisest money ever spent.

2.) Terrence Cody is a man-child who keeps Satan himself up at night worrying that the very gates of Hell won't be able to hold him back.

3.) Commit these names to memory, you will know them well one day (if you don't already): Mark Ingram, Dont'a Hightower

4.) USC proved that they are not who the voters think that they are. Like they do EVERY YEAR.

5.) Tennessee is truly terrible this year. As much as I dislike Tennessee, I can usually at least begrudgingly admit that they are a good football team. No such luck this year. I honestly feel very real pity for Jonathon Crompton.

6.) Vanderbilt is going to be the cause of a lot of curse words before January rolls around.

7.) There is a growing trend of smaller schools emerging early each year to dash National Title hopes for a few big schools, and then they disappear. Last year: South Florida. This Year: Eastern Carolina. Look for Duke next year. No, I'm not kidding.

8.) Auburn hung a grand total of three points on Miss State. Miss State returned the favor by scoring exactly two. The upsides: Auburn played awfully and tried to give the game away on penalties, and MSU still couldn't pull it out. Also, the fact that Auburn scored three points on Mississippi State.

9.) Auburn's Ben Tate is nowhere near the back that Knowshon Moreno, CJ Spiller, or James Davis is. Those three RB's combined have rushed for 56 yards against Alabama. We'll see how that goes.

10.) This year could be the continuance of Alabama's 3-year cycle of wins since 1997. An awful year, a better year the next, followed by a ten win season. This cycle has run like clockwork since 1997.

Re: No. 4

USC 2004 was pretty wickedly awesome. They smoked the crap out of Oklahoma and would’ve done the same to Auburn. Probably not as bad as Oklahoma would’ve gotten it, but that was a pretty special team.

I

think the 2005 team was equally impressive and had Reggie Bush not decided to lateral that ball and give Texas a HUGE momentum shift, who knows what would’ve happened in that game. It too Vince Young giving one of the best individual performances in any college football game ever to beat them.

I

think te 2005 Bama team was equally impressive, and had Mike Shula not decided to leave Tyrone Prothro in the game in the fourth quarter of a UF beatdown, who knows what would’ve happened that year for the Tide. Also, J.B. Closner was taken out by some MSU thuggery…and Auburn thanks them.

Even though we all dislike UT, not many of us wouldn’t concede that Fulmer was a good coach and great recruiter. However, given their unexplainable lack of success without David Cutcliffe, it kinda makes you want to rethink things…

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
