Very cool: Bama Nation's best D in FEI

A really good article this week, explaining some of the methodology behind the FEI system, and how different teams shake out according to it.  Alabama is now ranked #2, after beating a much better than most realize team in Mississippi, who is ranked #14 but has the 2nd toughest schedule to date in the country.

Also now included is a separate analysis of the offense and defense, adjusted for opponents.  Bama is ranked #1 in defense, and #11 in offense. 

Going by these rankings, there's a good chance that an undefeated Alabama will play a once defeated Florida in the SEC championship (FL is ranked #4 overall), with the winner playing for a NC.

By the way, I know that FEI is not a perfect system, but I like it better than any other I've come across.  It's picked teams ranked too high early on fairly consistently, and called strong teams with a bad early record many times in the past, as well.  Overall, Fremeau is willing to show his ranking system, and applies the same methodology to every team, which is a far sight better than any other human or computer system I've been able to find.

Finally, Tennessee is ranked #48 in this system, for whatever you want to make of that.
