1. Texas - vs Oklahoma State - W 28-24
The Longhorns looked mortal on Saturday aganst a very good Okie State. They don't really have a ground game to speak of, and the Pokes were balanced and efficient against their defense and in it 'til the very end. Also, I know McCoy is completing at an absurd rate, but has anyone else thought a lot of those passes were completely ill advised? That's just heat of the moment perception, obviously, but against Mizzou and OSU there were several passes that the credit for the completion should go to his receivers for making plays and to the DBs for not.
2. Alabama - at Tennessee - W 29-9
So we've been wondering how the Tide would respond when pressured, and now we know. UT put up the best first half fight we've seen so far, and Alabama kept their heads and played the same kind of smart, efficient football it's been playing all year. We moved the ball effectively through the air against a good secondary, and even though the run wasn't working all that well in the early goings we kept with it and found plenty of success with it in the second half. First complete game we've played all season and I couldn't be happier with the result.
3. Texas Tech (+1) - at Kansas - W 63-21
4. Penn State (-1) - at Ohio State - W 13-6
Their punt fest against tOSU was a boring, poorly executed game that had more to do with mistakes than anything either team did right, while Texas Tech did everything right against a good Kansas team. The Red Raiders, to quote the good Doctor, are just scary.
5. Florida - vs Kentucky - W 63-5
Tempted to move the Gators ahead of Penn State as well, but I'm not going to jump a one loss team that middled away the first part of the season before finally finding their terrifying offensive groove over an undefeated team that has so far only looked mediocre in one game.
6. Georgia - at LSU - W 52-38
Finally all that offensive firepower is resulting in points on the board. LSU's defense is now, officially, not good.
7. Southern Cal - at Arizona - W 17-10
8. Utah - idle
9. Oklahoma - at Kansas State - W 58-35
10. Boise State (+2) - at San Jose State - W 33-16
11. Tulsa (+2) - vs UCF - W 49-19
I know I have a lot of mid-majors pretty high, but even if it is against competition that isn't exactly BCS caliber week in and week out, they are still undefeated and still playing some damn good football, especially Tulsa's offense. Smooth move on running that Malzahn guy out of Arkansas, Nutt. He had no idea what he was doing...
12. Ball State (+3) - vs EMU - W 38-16
13. Oklahoma State (-3) - at Texas - L 24-28
14. Missouri (+4) - vs Colorado - W 58-0
15. TCU (+7) - vs Wyoming - W 54-7
16. Michigan State (+8) - at Michigan - W 35-21
17. Minnesota (+9) - at Purdue - W 17-6
18. North Carolina (+7) - vs Boston College - W 45-24
19. Ohio State (-8) - vs Penn State - L 6-13
20. LSU (-6) - vs Georgia - L 38-52
21. Maryland (+5) - vs NC State - W 27-24
22. Florida State (+4) - vs Virginia Tech - W 30-20
23. Connecticut (+3) - vs Cincinatti - W 40-16
24. Virginia (+2) - at Georgia Tech - W 24-17
25. Georgia Tech (-9) - vs Virginia - L 17-24
Dropped Out: #17 Cininnati, #19 Pitt, #20 South Florida, #21 Boston College, #23 Kansas

Not
to split hairs or anything but I think people forget we did play a complete game against Clemson and WKU although maybe the latter doesn’t really count.
Anyway I love our chances if we play Tejas in the NCG. I’d like to see how they react with a D that actually challenges, presses and covers WR’s, pressures the QB and stops the run.

Mistakes?
The Penn State-Ohio State game had more to do with mistakes? Penn State had zero turnovers or penalties. Ohio State only had four penalties and one bad turnover that cost them the game.
Your problem is you just don’t know how to appreciate good defense. Here’s hoping we get a rematch for 1979.

I'm not taking...
…a side in this argument, as I didn’t watch the PSU/OSU game, but telling a Bama fan that his “problem is you just don’t know how to appreciate good defense” is equivalent to telling a Penn State fan that his team’s uniforms are too flashy and his coach is too young. But we would all love a rematch, and a replay, of 1979. Good luck, BSD.

I wasn't implying that Penn State made mistakes...
…but y’all’s offense has run roughshod over all takers so far but could only get into tOSU territory three times in the first half (and only one of those, the FG drive, was more than four yards deep into tOSU terriroty), and were very fortunate that the Buckeye’s true freshman QB fumbled the ball away with the lead on a 3rd and 1 play to set up PSU for their only TD drive of the game on the tOSU 38 yard line (which was aided by a 15 yard tOSU penalty to get y’all to the 14 yard line). tOSU did everything possible to throw the game away and Penn State was barely able to make them pay for their mistakes. I was not impressed.

oh god
BAMA will destroy penn st the same as they would tejas. what i want to know is; Todd, why didn’t you vote us #1. tejas and penn st have both shown that they cant dominate teams on the periphery of the top 10 (i dont buy oklahoma, mizzou or ohio state as legit top 10 teams, and they’ll all lose their bowl games to prove my point), so it’s easy to conclude they will lose when they play a legit top 5 team, like BAMA or Florida.

A good Kansas team?
Oh, really? Really? Is that your final answer? Do you want to phone a friend?
I don’t really care where you rank anyone, since it has no effect on anything, but calling KU a good team is quite a bold move. Their best win is against a Colorado team that just lost 58-0. Or maybe that stirring two point W against Iowa State. Come to think of it, the Sam Houston State win was…oh, nevermind.

P.S.
If anyone is lost, this is in reference to your justification for ranking Texas Tech above Penn State.
A good Kansas team. Sheesh. Next, you’ll be talking about what a great job Fulmer is doing.
By the way, airbrushed Snow looked kinda pretty last week. Way better than regular Snow.

Yes, a good Kansas team...
…since Kansas is good. I didn’t say Kansas was a great team, but they are, by and large, pretty solid and any team that wants to beat them has to play good football to do so. Tech absolutely destroyed them on the road, so they earn my praise.

Well...
…I know they have a decent offense, but there’s not a defense in the SEC worse than KU’s. Anyway, I know you have a crush on Leach, so I’ll try to let you enjoy the rest of Tech’s last undefeated week.
