Arky State Info

Run-oriented offense, beat Texas A&M, put up 83 points in one game. If the Tide doesn't show up it could be a long day.

I recommend a healthy dose of Friday Embarrassing Admissions this week to ward off the evil November Meltdown and TrapGameitis which will be striking on the same day.

WOW..

This is the first game I am able to make it to this year so it is nice to see it will be a game. I don’t think the team will be over-looking ANYTHING anymore. I mean, we are just fans and look at the embarassing stuff we do every Friday to remind ourselves that anyone can beat us if we don’t show up! Should be a great homecoming game.

Thanks for the link.

Arkansas State...

…is a good football team (better than Kansas…cough, cough) that matches up well with us statistically. The greatest discrepancy lies in rushing defense (NJBammer’s favorite category). Bama is ranked 2nd, giving up 62.4 yards per game, while Arky State is ranked 54th, yielding 131.4 yards per game on the ground. NJB mentioned in his post that we have only given up one rushing TD so far this year (incredible). Arky St. has given up 10.

The fact that they scored 83 points tells you that they know a little something about football. The win over A&M tells you that A&M is a horrible football team. If you want statistical evidence, take a look here. I’m neutral on Mike Sherman, but outside the Fran years, I’ve always rooted for the school Coaches Bryant, Sherrill, and Stallings once called home.

Anyway, like ULM last year, Arkansas State will come to play. And while they do match up well with us statistically (above exception noted), remember that their stats have been acquired against much weaker competition than we have faced. As long as Bama comes to play, too, we should have a great day.

Do not forget

Arky St. has beaten ULM. We can not think this one is automatic. Homecoming crowds have often been very quiet…we need to be loud on Sat.

Hmm

I’ll see about getting my 20 month old daughter to be a bit louder. She does just fine at home!

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
