6-0: Ball Your Fists.
Tough game; but we knew it would be, didn't we? I talked this week about our quiet tradition with Kentucky, the mutual admiration and history we have together. And isn't this one of the only teams that beat the reigning National Champions last year? Do you really think it's a coincidence that both of the teams the Bayou Bengals lost to were SEC? I didn't think so.
The rest of the country knows this. I watched the game with a good friend of mine, who has the misfortune to be an Ole Miss fan, along with my Lula, the most beautiful woman I've ever known, who somehow deigns to be seen with me in public, who also has a dual Appalachian State/Ole Miss allegiance (I know; so weird, y'all). Both of them told me: "You're upset over what? Winning? Going undefeated? Coffee looking like a champion, running dozens of yards over what he'd do last year?"
I'm taking that to heart. I'm keeping the flags on my car all week this time; I want everybody to know. I want my neighbors in Jackson, Mississippi to SEE. I want them to know that sometimes we might only win by 3; sometimes we might be up by 31 at the half. It doesn't matter; WE'RE ALABAMA, by God, and WE BELIEVE.
Never forget that. Yes, we can always do better; but REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE.

I agree...
I went to the game and I was AMAZED at all the moaning and groaning about how we should be KILLING THEM. I know we played a little flat, but Kentucky is a good football team. They came out and played their best football while we were brought out our “B” game. I was happy to see the Tide pull it out. This would have been a loss last year. A win is a win, especially nowadays, and we will remain at the #2 spot. What is the problem?
I don't think it was a "killing them" attitude...
I think the issue most people had was the mistakes our team made. Fumbling twice inside the Red Zone. The two picks. The missed kicks (two FGs and an XP). Personally, I think we brought our C game and got lucky that KY had their B game going.
I think it was our lack of focus
that was disheartening. Again, this was a down game. And remember the past ten years have seen late-season collapses more often than not, and I think you heard a lot of moaning because of what people thought/think they were seeing…

They’ve shown they’ve got the talent and skill required to walk all over UK, or almost anybody for that matter. Like Nick said, “when you get satisfied you lighten up”. Bama can’t afford to “lighten” up though, and they know it. Thats what you saw yesterday…hopefully between the second half of the GA game and yesterday they’ll get it through their heads that they have to play more solid and NEVER should be satisfied with their gameplay. That is the mental attitude that has dragged our program down from its pedastool (haha spelling?)…thats why the bear was successful, because he had his players MENTALLY in it as well as physical, and that my friends is a very deadly combination. Roll Tide! They’ll figure it out
It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.
