Franklin Fired?

So, there are a ton of rumors about Tony Franklin being fired from Auburn today?  I have seen no hard evidence of this, but a couple of people have been emailing me and texting me.  Has anyone heard anything?  If someone gets a legitimate link that states that he has been fired, could you please post it?  It really sounds like things are going very badly down there. I think they may be in total meltdown on the Plains.

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the readers of this site. They are in no way indicicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

Not Good For Their Recruiting Class?

You would think these spread-based recruits they are getting would jump shit… Oops, I mean ship.

by CaptStu on Oct 8, 2008 3:16 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

So...

are they going to continue the spread for the rest of the season? Will Tubbs go back to a basic offense? WIll they just punt every first down to give their defense a chance? I need to know these things!

here is their gameplan

get the ball, kneel 3 times and punt, and score all their points on Defense.

It's officially official...

Finebaum confirms it! Wow, 5-2 since Franklin got there. He’s only been beaten by teams who are currently undefeated. In my humble opinion, Alabama’s success has more to do with this firing than Auburn’s lack of offense.

stinks. Im with you, yes their offense is horrible, but its his first year in a system not built for the spread.

If

I were an AU fan I wouldn’t be buying the “we don’t have the talent to run this” argument. When Stoops went to OU and brought in Mike Leach he didn’t want him to change anything to “adapt” to the current players. Meyer won a NC with players whom the vast majority weren’t recruited for that system. Now that being said, I don’t expect them to be at full potential until they recruit with that system in mind, but there is absolutely no excuse for them being THAT bad.

Sad part about it though there offense just got better.

I dunno

Tubs said he’s going to get involved in the offense. That doesn’t fill me with confidence if I’m a fan of the Barn.

Just a little over 27 hours ago,

CTT gave his vote of confidence towards Tony Franklin, saying “We are gonna stick with this offense…”, and then this happens. WOW. I wonder how the players will respond? Let me just say that though I am a diehard Bama fan, I really want Bama to beat every team that is at their best level, especially Auburn.

by nosaj57 on Oct 8, 2008 4:23 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't understand...

why you Bama fans are poking so much fan at AU for having to make this difficult decision? I mean…aren’t you the one’s with the hilarious history of bailing on your own coaches? Explain this to me. Or don’t. It doesn’t really matter. It just makes me all the more proud to be who and what I am.

AUUUU

is someone’s feelings hurt? Seriously, you guys can give it but you can’t take it. In fact, if you read most of the posts on here they have stated a shock with only a couple of funny pics – which, by the way, your fans are the worst about (won’t mention the dead bear). Things must be really bad in Aubie Nation right now if the only thing you have left is coming on a Bama site and crying because someone hurt your feelings. Seriously, grow up.

Get thick skin. No one said anything about Bama’s problems, but it is very childish to cry about something like this. If you are really that upset, go complain to Tommy. He obviously doesn’t have your best interest at heart.

And be proud of who you are – second class and second best. Roll Damn Tide.

Dear Bama Returns...

Thanks for the advice about getting thick skin. Really.

My life long dream is to be just like AL fans.

P.S. Does it make you feel like a big mad talking to a “girl” like that? I hope it does. I really do, doll.

Please bama fans: revel in this. You deserve it. I’m not saying you don’t. I mean after all, I’m sure the bear was rolling over in his grave for what has happened to your program the last few years.

Most of us AU fans accept that it’s about time your team came back. Those of us, WHO DO SEE THE REAL PROBLEMS, want a rivalry with someone who can beat us. We want a game worth watching. And the last few years your boys haven’t given us that. And maybe this year you will. It’s looking like it. But don’t persecute us for being passionate about our team. We are not that different. I don’t think so anyways. And I know several others that feel the same.

Oh and one last thing dearest BamaReturns: only a white trash redneck would attack a complete stranger personally. So where does that place you?

YES!!

I got my own “Dear Bamareturns” post. Thanks. And I wasn’t really attacking you personally, but the fact that you took it that way proves my point.

As for the last few years, yeah we had some rough times. But, as you see, when we are not being screwed by the NCAA and are ALMOST at full strength, we are far better than you guys could ever be. You know I’m right. Auburn fans are the worst; always talking about the last ten years and then complaining about Bama fans living in the past. Enjoy your 6-6 record, fruitcake.

And finally, I don’t care what gender you are. Grow a pair if you are going to post in the boards. If we were arguing in real life, well, let’s be honest, I wouldn’t give you the time of day. But hypothetically (yeah, big word that I KNOW isn’t in that reading class), I would treat you like a lady, because I am a gentleman. On here, though, you are the trailer trash. And, again sweetheart, quit taking shit so personally. WAAAAAAAAH!

And now to you Mobile:

Is it really an AL norm to being complete douches to a woman you’ve never met? I never attacked any of you personally. As a matter of fact…I didn’t attack in the slightest. I merely made an observation.

It is waaay over the line, and if you think you can talk about “class” and be taken seriously, you are deluding yourself. AUwidow

I hope you come back if nothing else to read this. I, like vicki above stated I dont agree with some of the remarks that you have recieved here so dont think that any one person speaks for everyone. But you have to understand or may unfortunately in the future understand what us bama fans have faced with so much termoil with our team and all we ever heard and got from everyone in and out of the state of alabama was negative, degrading and kicks while we were as down as this program has every been. Now that the tables have started to turn you have to understand that we bama fans are probably the only group that you can relate or turn to to know what it feels like for you. I would bet that during our issues you heard, passed or made plenty of jokes and such neg. comments about bama thats human nature to enjoy when karma comes back around. I along with others wants you guys to be at your best when we play but I also think it will be good for you guys to go through these issues and then see how your program comes out on the other end just like we had to it will give you all a better view of your university and fan base. I think the biggest issue you all have down there is you dont have any clue as to who is running things there I tend to believe it is certain boosters that drive your university and that is not a good thing no matter who you are. Again I appologize for some of the over the line comments you recieved and I myself got some of the same comments when I first checked out your web site so it goes both ways unfortunatly. Keep your head up you guys will make a bowl and salvage you season it just may not be to the level you first expected.

the gender kerfluffle aside...

it’s probably important to note that there is zero resentment on our part concerning franklin. in fact, there might even be a bit of respect for the man that his former employer seemed unwilling to extend to him today. this blog, like many other observers, were concerned about the dynamicism franklin threatened to bring to the offense. with an amenable schedule and a flotilla of returning starters, the barn was one of the biggest threats in the SEC West.

but the evils that felled franklin were pretty obviously the fault of the system he was placed in and observers far more skilled at breaking down the game than myself have shown that to be the case quite clearly. the firing of franklin and the way it was conducted indicates a severe disarray in the organization and that’s something barners should be more worried about than the fate of any single coordinator.

say what you will about saban and his methods but one thing there is never any doubt of is that it’s his show. he provides the entire program with a single clear vision of how it should be run and gets the personell to make it happen. in an effort to join the latest fashion, tuberville hired a coach whose expertise was one type of offense and insisted he implement the opposite. that’s not the hire-ee’s fault and firing him ain’t gonna solve it.

The Ultimate nemesis

Tommy should hire Fulmer as his OC and assHat as his DC. Just bundle all our rivals into one. Then we wouldn’t have to spread our hate around so much. Focused hatred is much more affective.

Why?

Why would any Auburn fan expect Alabama fans to have sympathy over their situation? If anything, I might have sympathy for Franklin, but it is hard to fell too bad for a guy who has a 2 year contract that will pay him $300,000 a year, and will almost assuredly get a job somewhere else. It is not like we are pulling an Auburn, and laughing at college students getting arrested, and talking about how much character we have. IT IS FUNNY BECAUSE AUBURN IS IN MELTDOWN MODE, AND THEIR OFFENSE IS A COMPLETE MESS!

If you are a rival fan these are acceptable things to laugh at, not taking pleasure from the misfortune of college students. The coaches get paid, the students do not.

One Dimensional

Auburn is going to have big problems now. After being sodomized by Vandy (Yes, a one point loss, ANY loss, is sodomy when it comes to Vandy vs. a major team) and firing Franklin, they will run the ball. Todd will never see the field again, IMO. But everyone is going to stop Tate and Lester and make Kodi beat them; aint’t gonna happen.

Bring that one-dimension to us; that’s a mountain Tubby can’t climb.
