Any takers on the system
I saw on Frankin's web site that he is still willing to give coaching seminars on his offensive system that attracts players, scores points, wins games, and most importantly wins championships. The site makes a special point that this is not the kind of seminar where you drink beer and chase women all weekend. Ah, come on now. That book that was selling for hundreds of dollars a few months back. I would like to know how much they are selling for now. I think Franklin may end up coaching against Dubose in some terrible high school games real soon.

Actually...
I think he’d get better results if he stated that this Was the kind of seminar where you drink beer and chase women all weekend. I know I’d be more likely to attend that way…

How about this line
“learn a systematic way of coaching football that historically has been proven to work in every type of environment”
I would think there would be some legal issues with claiming that now, right?

Dubose
I believe he’s coaching D-line at millsaps, which is undefeated and ranked 12 in DIII. Food for thought.

I never had any issue with Dubose's ability
as a D Line coach.

And
for wasting Shaun Alexander’s senior season, possibly the best ever by an Alabama running back, through inept coaching.

Alexander had a great 1999 season
despite a sprained ankle, he rushed for an everage of 125 yards per game, behind the great Chris Samuels. However poor coaching lead to an unforgivable loss to LA Tech early in the season, then a poor showing to TN sealed Bama’s fate in shooting for a NC. They fell to Michigan in the Orange Bowl basically because Dubose wanted to use the extra time as practice for 2000 instead of getting ready for an actual game.
IMHO, 1999 was a lost season, because even though it was good, it could have been great. Even if the had lost to TN, there is no way they should have lost to La Tech. They could easily have been playing for a NC, instead they lost their relatively unimportant Bowl game. Alexander could have been the first Heisman winner (I know we’re not supposed to support such things at Bama, but still).
So, I always will consider 1999 as the great “What If?” year. A chance wasted.

OK...
…I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Dubose was clearly the most inept coach at Alabama since ‘Ears’ Whitworth, and the team had no business losing to La Tech. However, that loss led Dubose to finally allow the changes in his coaching staff (without actual firings) that were needed to play at a higher level (most importantly, his OC and college roomate Neil Callaway was no longer calling the shots on offense).
Alexander actually hurt his ankle in the UT game (as did QB Andrew Zow), without which we most likely would have won. And we had a 2008-Tulane-game-style shake-up on the O-line for the Orange Bowl due to Chris Samuels — the greatest Left Tackle in UA history — having his own injury that forced him to sit out. Hence, there were several holding calls at key moments in the game. We also had a few quick scores in that game by Alexander and Milons, which forced our D to be on the field a lot, making it easier for MIchigan’s QB…some kid named Tom Brady. Still, I agree that Dubose was one of the worst hires in SEC history.

holding calls
there must have been a dozen of them in the second half alone……. that game fucking sucked

Lets
also not forget coaching totally cost us the Orange Bowl against Michigan that year.

Great point
I forgot about that. I remember last year they got beat with no time left by a team that had about 30 laterals and eventually got in the end zone. Nonetheless, Bama head coach to D line coach at DIII is a fall.
I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .

He's actually the head coach...
…but it is still a fall.
