who's # 1?

so as i'm writing this it's halftime in the tejas vs tejas tech game. it seems to me that no matter who wins at this point (some people i know are suggesting tejas could come back, i dont think so) BAMA will probably be ranked #1 tomorrow. unless of course texas tech wins by like 40 points. in that case i'd understand some people jumping tech over us, but it'd still be fucking wrong, and making poor choices would be par for the course when it comes to the voters.

so anyway, whats ya'lls thoughts on the subject. I'm thinkin it looks like 1 BAMA, 2 Penn St., 3 Texas Tech, 4 Florida, 5 who cares, either oklahoma or USC and both would be bad choices (theres those voters again)

texas tech...

will probably jump us. and i don’t mind that because we have a big enough target on our back as it is.

If they were to jump us...

…any supposed media love affair with the SEC would instead be cemented for the Big XII, which is who the media love affair is really with.

Not possible.

If Tech hangs on, which is a big “if” at this point. They won’t jump ‘Bama. They’ve played two 1-AA teams and their four non-conference opponents have a total of 4 wins against D1-A teams. They’ve played nobody but Texas and, I guess, Kansas. I can see them leaping Tech, but there’s no way they jump Bama too. I also don’t think Texas would fall if they pull this out. Tech is good.

Herbstriet...

just said that Bama should take the #1 spot if TT pulls out the win tonight. Texas is still fighting for the win so who knows.

That should read

“their four non-conference opponents have a total of 3 wins against D1-A teams.”

#12 just played his last snap as a Longhorn.

All he had to do was to hit Crabtree and the corner and they both go out of bounds. Instead he gives up on the play, runs right by and Crabtree shakes off the tackle. Incredible.

they deserve to rush the field

especially since that number 1 they beat the hated ’horns. lubbock has never seen anything close to what happened tonight.

I don't know.

I tend to lean against rushing the field. I have a tough time giving the okay to teams rushing the field when they’re in the top 10, even if that team doesn’t have a great history.

Tech has "never been there"

I hate it too, but I guess I can understand it if it has never been a part of their experience??? Before the game was over seemed a bit much, though. Felt like either the fans didn’t understand the rules or didn’t understand the consequences. Wouldn’t it have been stupid if the penalties has caused Texas to be able to run the kickoff back!

My vote is...
  1. Bama
  2. Tech

Earlier in the year i was happy with #2

Now it’s our time, hopefully a #1 ranking will put a chip on these boys shoulders and they start playing everygame the way they played tennessee, clemson, georgia(1st half) with 3 big games left in the regular season, my opinion at this point if we win out, the NC game is played in atlanta this year

It's all about the process....

BAMA Tradition

While a potent ground offense has long been the standard at Alabama, the key to our championships past and future has always been an overwhelming D. Many of us may forget tht Coach Saban is a DEFENSIVE minded coach, and that this year is rolling out much like ‘92. We were an unhearalded defensive team that got no respect nationally because we did not roll up style points like a classless UF, and held a high ranking only because we simply WON OUR GAMES. Our quarterback then did not have flashy Graham Harrel numbers either, but he won. I hope we get talked down every week we win like ’92 and walk into a NC game to show the world what BAMA is again like Miami found out then. Plus I wouldn’t mind a rematch of the ‘78 season finale that occurred in the New Years Day Sugar Bowl of 1979 when BAMA and Paterno’s Nittany Lions fought a magnificent defensive battle. RTR!
