CBS COVERAGE
Did anyone watching get the feeling that they really did not like Bama. I mean the I cant believe this is the number one team playing the defeding national champs. To the JPW phone call. I mean it was just the worst thing in football when he done it. But Tebow and Knowshon get a pass. I really hate the CBS coverage of us it is terrible. And it all started with the hiring of Saban. Now in 2005 when Shula was having a good year with us we were their darlings. So what does everyone else think? Am i just paranoid or had others noticed these things too.

I don’t really like the coverage either…I prefer Eli Gold. So I turn the TV volume off and turn up the radio. I know there is a couple second delay, but its still preferable to listening to the tv announcers.

Danielson and Lundquist
are total morons. I am switching to the radio + TV format next time they are on.
Alabama judges its team by national and SEC titles. Auburn judges its team by how many times it beats Alabama. You tell me who the dominant team in the state is.

I absolutely
HATE lundquist and danielson. They don’t like alabama and that’s very obvious to me. I would rather watch the PPV games than have to listen to those to any more. Which hopefully i won’t have too, unless by some miracle they get the Iron Bowl.

Eli Gold
Is good as gold, but it’s kinda weird hearing him pre-call the game. This past game, he was about 5 seconds ahead.
I think a letter writing campaign to CBS, with cc’s to their proud sponsors, telling them that we all tune out the sound because their commentators are offensive, is in order. That is not what the sponsors are paying the big bucks for. Enough people complained about the MSNBC guys during the conventions and they were moved off of prime time.

normally I am fine with Danielson
but Saturday’s game was horrible. You know it’s really bad when the commentators are getting cursed just as much as any of the participants in the game (players, coaches, or refs).

I hate those guys with a passion...
The Kentucky game was the worst with Gary saying that UK was dominating the whole game but somehow Bama managed to pull it out. Then the Ole Miss game where Gary said that if the Rebs would’ve had a healthy Greg Hardy, Ole Miss would’ve won the game handily.
But I think what pissed me off the most was when JPW did the phone thing, Gary was very quick to say “The same thing happened to Tim Tebow, but you didn’t see him making that sort of gesture, did you?” It was about 5 minutes later that they showed Tebow and Knowshon doing the same thing (that were not penalized for by the way)
Sort of off topic, but did anyone see the ref that flagged JPW pushed him in the back while he was doing the phone gesture, and looked like he almost knocked him down? Thought that was pretty classless, to get a good shove into his back, then to flag him…

They did, however...
compare Bama’s O-line to the old-school Raiders line with Upshaw and all those big bastards on it, and also called Rashaad Johnson the smartest player (or maybe they just said safety) in America. Thought that was cool, but yeah, they still suck alot…

The thing...
…that hacked me off the most is when Danielson said, “LSU scored four times in the first half. Twice for themselves, twice for Alabama…” or something to that effect. Totally disregarding that they scored off of turnovers too.

Don't get me started
CBS the “Can’t Broadcast for S**t” network is a joke!! The idiots that are Danielson and Lundquist, when calling an Alabama game, rank right up there with Joe Buck during the World Series, Keith Oberman during anything political, 3/4ths of Finebaum’s call in listeners and Fat Phill’s tear laden press conference…after about three minutes I want to puncture my own eardrums and stab them all in the face. I think sports commentators should be held to the same basic philosophy as the Gong Show contestants. If you show up and talk and act like an ass clown you get booted!! the majority of the game Saturday was spent yelling at the officials and the commentators..I mean really the LSU defense got away with more man on man action than gay porn and the refs couldn’t FIND a flag till we scored a touchdown and then they see a holding penalty.
This was one of the only wins of the year when at the end I was in a bad mood due to the hours of Beavis and Butthead calling the game and the Slingblade refs I had to watch.
And while I’m on this soapbox…Does anyone else think that since his Buckeyes don’t have a change of getting embarassed by an SEC team for the third year in a row, Herbstreit has decided to officially jump on the Florida/Tebow bandwagon. For the third week in a row I see him Monday morning telling everyone not to worry that a Texas/Florida game is in the making. I wonder if his “I Heart Tebow” undershirt would show through his dress shirt if he took his jacket off…
Sure I'd like to beat Notre Dame, don't get me wrong. But nothing matters more than beating that cow college on the other side of the state.

Actually...
…the Buckeyes stand a pretty good chance of meeting an SEC team as an at large BCS team in the Sugar Bowl. So while it isn’t the title game, don’t count the Bucks out on getting shown up!

Oh I don't
I have a bunch of friends that are OSU fans and I go round and round with them all the time.
No Michican and OSU is not as fierce as Auburn and Alabama
No the pictures of people spelling Ohio is not impressive to me.
No your marchig band spelling Ohio and dotting the eye is not impressive.
ANY chance I get to see them beaten by an SEC tema is great for me!!!

They May Not Be Your Favorite Announcing Team...
…But I think the criticisms here are way too harsh, and I have never felt either one was biased against the Tide.
One thing I have noticed, though, is that is is torture to attend a game that is being televised by CBS. We were at the FSU game last year and the Kentucy game this year, and they seemed to go on forever with all those TV timeouts. We grew to hate the man with the red hat!

I think what pisses me off most is the
quantity of Gary’s sentences that begin with:
“I’ve been saying all along that…”
“I told you that…”
“When I played…”
“If I wasn’t gay, I’d…”

I listen to the CBS guys
for comic relief. It could be really frustrating if it wasn’t so obvious who they wanted to see win the game. The blatantly obvious bias is hilarious if you take into account that they don’t actually affect any facet of the game on the field. Plus the “W’s” are alot sweeter when there are so many people against you. It’s us versus the world and we’re kicking their ass right now. Three more wins and we’ll see who wants to jump on our family bandwagon.

I don't like it when they trash my team.
I don’t like it when they give the other team credit that they don’t deserve. I don’t like it when they pull for the OTHER team. These are not unbiased announcers and should be on the pay-per-view of the team we are playing.
What makes me MAD and want to INJURE them in some form, are the things they do that actually effect us. i.e. When they give us Orlando McCain’s stats!! WTF?? If he were the third string and we were up 76-0, its okay if you don’t know his name! OMG!! How do you think he is feeling when he gets home to see himself on TV and he sees ORLANDO MCCAIN??? And of course, you know, this is merely one example of these two being past their prime as announcers! If they can no longer remember the names of the players, when they are on a piece of paper right in front of them, it is time to go.
I hear what you are saying, crimsonpride, but I don’t want these bags in our family! Herbstreit either, BTW—still hatin’ his idiot-crusted self! I have NEVER been bothered by these people before, ever. Normally, I just let it roll off and don’t worry about what they say. I guess it is the fact that I have to watch SO MUCH of it from home this season, rather than in person. I am now actually HEARING IT—FIRST HAND!! WOW!

They don't deserve the family.
They didn’t go through the heartache like we did so they don’t get the spoils like we do. The bandwagonners don’t get the satisfaction that we do so they’re harmless, and who knows maybe they’ll actually recruit a real fan or two. We have one of the largest fan bases in college football, so what’s the harm in a few stragglers? Because I’m a student doesn’t make me a better fan, and because someone is just now noticing how much they love Alabama doesn’t make them worse. Embrace the new Tide nation. . . it’s gettin even bigger.
And yes, lundquist is awful. But it’s like a, “my grandfather is old and cynical and has no clue what he’s talking about”, kind of awful. I wouldn’t want him pulling for us anyway. haha
I don't want to seem like a traitor but. . . I freakin love corndogs.

Sorry if this was already mentioned...
…but what about the freakin’ TV timeout right before Tiffin’s kick at the end of regulation? I mean, Miles had just stupidly burned all his timeouts + challenge, so LSU couldn’t ice the kicker…then CBS ices the kicker! If it happened to LSU, I would have laughed, but it still should not have happened. I long for a day that CBS decides to cover SEC football with an SEC football-friendly crew.
That being said, I did think Hannah Wolfson was going to fondle CNS during her post-game interview. We’ll have to wait and see if Terry lets her work another Bama game.

Yeah, my "date" was pretty into Hannah too!
I am either going to have to start watching games with women, or bring my own make-up crew! =) By the end of THAT game, I looked like I had actually suited up!
Are there any regs on the tv timeouts? We had that discussion, but couldn’t come up with an answer. Seems like it actually DID give an advantage to LSU, since we missed the FG. It all worked out—we overcame the adversity, blahblahblah—-but if it hadn’t, this would be a different kind of Monday, wouldn’t it? All of the ref’s dropped flags and missed calls would be under much closer scrutiny today.

Holy Hell, I was freakin’ irate. I was thinking the same thing when they did that. Also, great job on the timeout calling LESS…

I buy into the "CBS Hates BAMA" stuff...
…but I just can’t stand the Danielson and Lundquist seem to refuse to learn players and coaches names or even call the right names. Jim “McKellan” is our OC, Marquis “Marks” is a receiver, John “Wilson-Parker” is our QB, and they seem completely unable to realize that Chris Rogers also wears #8 and when he is on the sidelines it doesn’t mean Julio Jones isn’t on the field (the ROGERS on his nameplate should probably clue them in on that).
by Todd on Nov 10, 2008 4:21 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I hate to mention this, but......
We will have to put up with these two again on Dec. 6 as CBS will broadcast the SECCG. Lundquist is annoying and I could certainly do without him but I absolutely abhor Danielson. He brings back repressed memories of Musberger calling some of our 80’s games against Penn St. and blatently rooting for them. I think it really shows a complete lack of skill as an announcer to reveal your bias on a supposedly neutral broadcast.
CBS is definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel for announcers if these two geriatric ass clowns are the best they can offer us.

Well
Let me tell you you think this was bad wait till we play Florida. I mean they absolutly kiss TT a#%. And Urban Meyer is the second coming. And alos I dont know if you all have had many chances to watch Kirk and Brent on ABC at night. Well it will make you puke at the Big 12 love fest and the SEC hating that goes on. All I know is whoever gets in the NC whether us of Florida. I am certain it is down t that. Then I hope that they try that offense bull crap on us. All I got to say is remember 2005 cotton bowl TEXAS POLYTECHNICAL.

Everone hates Alabama
We are never going to obtain SEC friendly announcers on any major tv affiliate, due to the fact that everyone hates Alabama. The thing that really makes me smile is all these games we have won that we didn’t have a real chance to win, according to these flipsticks. Herby was the first one on Saturday night to proudly say Alabama will have their asses handed to them by Florida. I think he forgot to engage his memory and remember 1999. We didn’t have one iota of a chance and AAHHHHHHHHHHH we won. I dislike him most of all because he actually thinks that OSU is as good as any team in the SEC and he thinks that every year. I guess Alabama will have to win 20 to 30 games in a row before we get any credit.
As far as the bandwagon, if you haven’t been for us in the hard times stay off the cart as we have truly loyal fans that need to ride because we have been carrying the Tide torch through the valley of the shadow of death for some years now.

Call the game yourself
I have a buddy that watches the games with me sometimes and does the “Mystery Science Theater 3000” thing. We turn down the volume, and he calls the game himself. I wish I had some of it recorded and could post it. It is freakin’ hilarious and makes the game even more enjoyable. Down a couple of pops of Knob Creek or your own favorite spirit and give it a try!
