WTF, killing someone over a GAME
I saw this on the SI site. I had to read it twice, because it seems like a horrible joke. Apparently, after the Bama-LSU game an altercation led to the death of two people. From what I read, these guys watched the game at different homes, but met after the game to fight over the outcome. They both had guns with them. I serisouly hope more comes out of this. Surely they had dealings with each other over other matters and the game was just the culmination of those interactions. I love college football and almost had a heart attack on Saturday over it, but come on. At the end of the day this is just a GAME for kids.

What the article said
I didn’t read it that they agreed to meet and fight over the outcome. To me, it read that the LSU guy came to the Alabama guy’s house. The LSU guy brought his pistol, and the Bama guy used his shotgun.
I couldn’t tell whether or not the shots were fired in self defense, or if the LSU guy even shot at all.
Either way, its a totally, terribly, awfully sad case of idolatry.

it only makes us both look ignorant in the eyes of the nation
with the extremely progressive steps our country has taken recently, it is sad to see the idiocy of a few taint the goodness of the whole. I take college football seriously, maybe even to a fault, but there is no way this situation came about over the outcome of this game. And if it did, then I am completely ashamed of where we are as a people.
On the other hand. . . We’re 10-0 baby!!!!
If I had a steamboat I could make it to London in 60,000 minutes.

Football's not worth diein' over...
This story was on Fox New Channel during lunch. It’s a terrible thing that makes both fanbases look stupid.

To me...
…this isn’t too terribly different than when there’s violence at a soccer game in Europe. It’s actually an incredibly rare thing, but just as many Americans want to paint all soccer fans as violent psychos, many non-Southerners want to paint all Southerners as violent hillbillies and this just plays into the stereotype. Additionally, most “soccer violence” in Europe isn’t about soccer at all, it’s gang stuff. As others have mentioned, this probably had a lot more to do with other stuff than it did with football. Football might’ve just been the spark that set it off.

Something similar...
…to this has happened in the last couple of years where someone was killed over a college game. I tried to google it, but this most recent story is everywhere and I couldn’t find it. Anyone else remember?

Crazy
I didnt read it that they agreed to fight after. It seems like one guy called the other to talk trash and he said F it, I’m coming over with a gun. Crazy rednecks. I am not a snob alumnus, but come on. Grown men killing each other over a football game played by students at schools they likely never attended. Priorities anyone?
I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .
