"And then there was a hush that kind of rolled across the locker room and I looked up to see what it was. There was Coach Bryant, a highway patrolman helping him up on a metal chair, and he told us that we deserved to win and don't let anybody ever tell us differently."
On Bama's 1980 6-3 loss to Mississippi State.

Class
That, my friends, is class—and the type of integrity and decency that Bro. Stuck is asking of Bama fans.
If Coach Bryant can do it after a hard loss—they were reigning National Champions, and had beat MSU 22 years in a row!—we can do it after a tough win.
Roll Tide!
Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world.

Rick Cleveland...
…is a good writer, which makes him an excellent sportswriter.
And two things I know: (1) CNS is the best football coach alive today. (2) There will never be another Coach Bryant, and if you’re too young to remember him, I’m sorry, but read/watch/listen to all you can.

Thankfully...
…I’m not too young to remember and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. No, there will never be another. I don’t want another. You can’t replace a man who made people believe he walked on water. That being said, I DO want exactly who we have. I love Coach Saban more and more every time I hear him speak. I have to say I don’t like playing against Coach Croom. It just doesn’t feel right. He was one of Bear’s “boys” and no matter what he does in the future, I will always think of him that way. It was very fitting that he was at the Liberty Bowl for Coach Bryant’s last game and the 25th anniversary of that game and came out a winner both times.

It's funny...
I was born in Ttown to Bama students, and “Bear” was talked about in such a way that I thought he was a relative for the first 5 or 6 years of my life! Stories like this were part of my history as a girl. Thanks for posting that….good memories!
