Nothing to it...

Apparently it was a rumor that got started on the Barner boards last night — big shock, I know.

If it had any validity to it, we would know something by now. It’s probably just your typical Barner rumor mill still — hell, not like they have anything better to do than sit around and talk about Alabama anyway.

This from al.com

University of Alabama police are “investigating a verbal exchange between a football player and two members of Delta Tau Delta fraternity that escalated into a fight in the area between Bryant Hall and the fraternity house on the corner of Jefferson Ave and 4th Street on Thursday evening,” per a statement released through the university’s media relations staff.

According to police, one student sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment. At this point, no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made.

Federal privacy laws restrict the university from releasing the name of the football player.

On BOL

some were saying that the guy does not plan on pressing charges. Supposedly McClain was driving by and almost hit the guy and the guy yelled out some profanities. McClain got out and an arguement insued. Not sure if any punches were thrown. We need to keep our fingers crossed this guy doesn’t press charges. If he does he will need to transfer and change his name.

The above info was posted on BOL before they deleted it. I have no idea if it is accurate so take it for what it is worth. All we really know is something happened outside there Frat house and it involved a FB player. No names have been released.

Interesting that...

…Florida State just had a situation of football players and frat boys mixing it up. 5 players are suspended for this weekend’s game with Boston College – http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3702927

I read

the story about the FSU fight and it sounds like an entirely different scenario that should warrant suspension. Those guys had a brawl and chairs were thrown, a female bystander was hit in the face, which in my opinion, is much, much worse than two people yelling at each other and fighting in a parking lot.

I don’t think anyone should be suspended and I don’t think anyone should press charges. What happened to the days when two people just walked away and let something like this dissipate?

Stupidity

I do hope this turns out to be nothing. Yes, it would be unfortunate if the frat boy presses charges but I think the player should be just a fearful since Saban simply won’t tolerate something this idiotic on the part of one of his players. This is the kind of thing we might have expected in the past under other head coaches, but not now. Don’t play to the level of your opposition – play your game and keep your focus.
