1. Alabama - vs Mississippi State - W 32-7
2. Texas Tech - idle
3. Florida - vs South Carolina - W 56-6
At what point do teams stop fearing the Gators and just play their game against them? SC gift wrapped their first 21 points with ridiculous turnovers, and after that it changes your entire game plan and allows the Gators to do whatever they want to knowing you have to play catch up. I'm still not overly confident about Alabama's chances, but I do know we won't make the same kind of mistakes against them everyone else has. I mean, it's not like Saban hasn't found a way to beat a high powered offense led by a Heisman winner before.
4. Texas - at Kansas - W 35-7
5. Southern Cal - at Stanford - W 45-23
6. Oklahoma - idle
7. Boise State - at Idaho - W 45-10
8. Utah - at San Diego State - W 63-14
9. Penn State - vs Indiana - W 34-7
10. Mizzou - at Iowa State - W 52-20
11. Ohio State - at Illinois - W 30-20
12. Michigan State - idle
13. Oklahoma State - at Colorado - W 30-17
14. Georgia - at Auburn - W 17-13
15. Ball State - at Miami (OH) - W 31-16
The Cardinals fall a bit because I realized I had them way too high at #11, and even here is still probably too high (I'm pretty sure TCU would beat them), but they are undefeated while everyone below them isn't.
16. TCU - idle
17. Pitt - idle
18. Cincinnatti - at Louisville - W 28-20
19. Oregon State - vs Cal - W 34-21
20. Oregon - vs Arizona - W 55-45
21. Western Michigan - vs Toledo - W 27-17
22. LSU - vs Troy - W 40-31
23. Maryland - vs North Carolina - W 17-15
24. BYU - at Air Force - W 38-24
BYU sneaks back in by virtue of not playing in the ACC.
25. Miami (FL) - vs Virginia Tech - W 16-14
Dropped Out: #15 North Carolina, #18 Florida State, #20 Air Force, #21 Tulsa, #24 Wake Forest, #25 Arizona

excellent
point about Florida. Honestly, if I was ranking teams I would put Texas Tech at #1. They have played as tough (probably tougher) of a schedule as we have. They beat a #1 team which still only has 1 loss and a highly ranked OK state team. I think their resume is better than ours, although we have played tough games on the road. If they beat Oklahoma, they will be #1 anyway though. We just need to keep winning, and I hope TT keeps winning as well.

Good Point RE: Gators
I made the same point at Speed Kills. Sure, UF’s play has been phenomenal, but teams just come out looking afraid. They get some some cheap points, and let the catastrophe roll on their heads with acceptance.

They (Gators)remind me of the school bully.
The kids fears are really blown out of proportion, so their actions are nervous and desperate. (See lateral pass on kick-off/punt? I don’t remember which.) The only thing I can think of that can possibly take care of a bully is another kid who is just as big and confident in his own abilities!
Unfortunately, the other scenario that fits is that they have the UF players each have the ability to hypnotize the opposing players at the LOS before each play. I don’t like this one, but it makes sense!

Florida
I would like to point out that outside of “Florida’s cheap points,” Florida racked up 519 total yards, including 346 rushing yards. Florida maybe the best offense in modern terms of the SEC, and their defense is vastly improved.
BTW, if we are going to count special teams points, as “cheap points” the same thing could be said about Alabama. Javy pretty much scored 14 points for Alabama, one return for a TD, and another returned to the 2 yard line.

Do you think
That Harvin on draw plays up the gut is going to gash us for 300+? I don’t think so. They have speed all over the field, and the return game is very very dangerous. But, Tebow has a slow release, we can man up on them, they don’t have power up the middle. They are Clemson on steroids, and I still think we match up with them better than LSU: LSU will be our own private Idaho for years to come. UF has played two physical teams (excluding the dreadnaught of confusion known as LSU): Ole Miss and UT. They lost one of those and played pretty inconsistently in the other.
As for “cheap points”, what I meant really was the inevitable knucklehead play of Lee/Stafford/SC Hydra of Suck, etc.; the defense running themselves out of plays; lack of tackling and just bonehead play generally. I would not call special teams cheap points. It’s a third of the game.

I think...
…you are underestimating them. Still, I agree I think we have a great shot at that game. The best thing is will know soon enough!
Of course, I am looking forward to beating Auburn first!
