This Michigan-Ohio State game

is absolutely atrocious. Ohio State is crappy, but Michigan is legitimately horrible. I don’t see how they’ve totaled 100 yards of offense against anyone. Ohio State’s defense isn’t anything special, not when Michigan’s QB can turtle and take a sack after 4 seconds on a 3 man rush.

by Bobby Briggs on Nov 22, 2008 11:49 AM CST reply actions

Allright

This Tennessee Vandy game isn’t that great either. I guess we have to be eased into seeing two competent offenses tonight.

by Bobby Briggs on Nov 22, 2008 12:04 PM CST up reply actions

Agreed.

OSU is a fraud. Michigan is Volunteer-bad.

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 12:17 PM CST reply actions

worse

im not impressed with your performance

by troy145 on Nov 22, 2008 2:47 PM CST up reply actions

yea.

At least the Vols try to play defense on most downs.

Who's ready for some TROY TROJAN FOOTBALL???

tennessee and noter dame

look like they’ll win. which sucks. stupid florida vs citadel aint on gameplan which also sucks. and louisville played like crap against WFV. oh well, ole miss and lsu starts soon, then the tejas tech vs OU game. hopefully they’ll both be worth watching.

i will be rooting for ol miss, and chaos. and oregon state.

Ahem,

Might I direct your attention to the nationally-televised Apple Cup? I am PUMPED for this one!

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:08 PM CST reply actions

Wow

The first biff was the announcer calling the team in maroon, “the hometeam Washington Huskies”….as the Cougs were exiting the tunnel. I just took a bonus drink for that one!

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:09 PM CST up reply actions

keep up on your reporting for this game...

I have a feeling your posts will get better and better…

What does

Picking up five yards a copy mean? Exotic Pac NW football terminology? INTERCEPTION COUGS!!! DRINK WHOLE BEER!

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:13 PM CST up reply actions

Washington State

is the worst-looking tacklers I’ve ever seen. They look like kittens pawing balls of yarn.

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:21 PM CST reply actions

The Cougs

just miserably shanked a punt for about 12 yards, the announcers said “ugh” and “that was bad”. FSN cuts to commercial break, and some WSU fans are screaming at the camera “we’re number one”. I almost pissed myself.

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:36 PM CST up reply actions

No LOLZ is complete without the UT-Vandy QB stats

Put down your drinks. Collectively: 14/37 for 84 yards, 4 Ints/0 Tds, 2.8 yards per pass.

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:24 PM CST reply actions

put me in coach!

Be careful...

you’re awfully close to the Barn…they might snatch you first.

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:32 PM CST up reply actions

Drinking game must be postponed...

Based on my initial calculus, I had now had three shots by 9:40 a.m., and five in the past thirty-one minutes.

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:31 PM CST reply actions

so if ol miss wins today...

does that make our win over them, combined w/ their two wins over florida and lsu, a “quality win’” for us? and also, what about their bowl chances. i hate miles so much i’d love to him in shreveport and nutt in atlanta or dallas. anyone thinking clear enough to set this straight?

by tempebamafan on Nov 22, 2008 2:40 PM CST reply actions

I was actually thinking...

Ole Miss might be the second best team in the division.

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:41 PM CST up reply actions

Now, to speculate on your question...

Even if the Rebs win out, they only go 8-4. That sets them up nicely for the Peach, Outback or Cotton Bowl. BCS will take Bama and UF. Cap One will take UGA (assuming the wheels don’t fall off). Probably then a toss-up between Ole Miss/LSU for the Outback (Cotton takes LSU, I’d assume…close by and the coonasses travel well -obviously). Then you’ve got Peach (probably So.Car). Shreveport is a toss-up for take a six win Vandy. Prolly UK to the Liberty?

This is just my speculation

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:46 PM CST up reply actions

Outback usually takes an East team,

I’d guess South Carolina. I’d have Ole Miss in the Peach, Vandy to Music City (it is in Nashville, after all) and UK to Liberty (Memphis).

by rugman11 on Nov 22, 2008 2:49 PM CST up reply actions

Some of the Vandy folks

were talking about how the cmte was trying to duck taking the ’Dores. (makes sense).

by Stuck in the Plains on Nov 22, 2008 2:51 PM CST up reply actions

LSwho sucks

they shouldn’t get to go to the cotton bowl because they’ll probably get waxed by the big 12 team they play. ol miss should go and would actually put up a good fight to the odd team out from the big 12 south.

by tempebamafan on Nov 22, 2008 4:18 PM CST up reply actions

Doubtful,

even if Ole Miss wins today, both teams will likely end up with 8 wins and the Cotton Bowl would probably take LSU over Ole Miss.

by rugman11 on Nov 22, 2008 2:47 PM CST up reply actions

and thats why the cotton bowl is assholes

yeah i know it doesn’t make sense, but the cotton bowl is assholes

by tempebamafan on Nov 22, 2008 4:27 PM CST up reply actions

It's all about the...

…$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and the sexy names. LSU is a sexy name, Ole Miss isn’t.

by Nico2.0 on Nov 22, 2008 4:42 PM CST up reply actions

ITs also about

Teams that travel. LSU is a good traveling school and that means more $$$ for the Cotton Bowl. Sucks but thats the bowl system.

Ole Miss regularly give me the heebie jeebies. But, thank god, Nutt can’t recruit, so when DACOACHO’s talent “graduates”, we won’t have to be that scared. Please?

Bad call...

…but if it was whistled then the Ole Miss players probably gave up and it likely wouldn’t have resulted in a TD anyway.

Regardless, I’ve never seen to “inadvertent fair catch signals with a delay of game for running the ball afterward” called in a looooooooooong time, but never twice in the same quarter.

by Nico2.0 on Nov 22, 2008 4:23 PM CST up reply actions

I thought the first one was a good call,

but I’ve never seen a ref claim that waving a player away from the ball is a fair catch signal, valid or invalid.

alabama fan sighting

by kleph on Nov 22, 2008 6:00 PM CST reply actions

The power

has shifted this season in the SEC West. LSU and Auburn were no doubt the two teams that ran the West for much of this decade. Alabama not only won the West this year but we are young and look good to stay on top for a while. Ole Miss clearly will be good for 2 more years with Snead. Nutt can coach and is actually more dangerous in MS than in ARK. LSU and Auburn look down and confused. Key game next year- Bama at Ole Miss.

by 5026 on Nov 22, 2008 6:28 PM CST reply actions

I think Nutt will always be Nutt

He’ll have a couple big upsets every year then lose one or two he shouldn’t. Until he proves me otherwise, i can’t see him as an elite coach. Just somebody to keep an eye on.

Okay...I'm from the stone age

but I can’t pick up ABC with my rabbit ears here in rural AL. Is OU’s defense that good, or is TTU’s offense just that rotten tonight.

Is there even a faint possibility that even if Bama loses to Florida in the SEC (spits twice to ward off bad luck) title game that we still go to the NC game?

I bleed crimson and white...I puke Vol puke orange. RTR

by SugarBowl93 on Nov 22, 2008 9:28 PM CST reply actions

ok

A) Tech’s offense, I think.

B) No. I wish it were so but we don’t have the strength of schedule, plus we’ve seen in the past that the voters are reluctant to put two teams from the same conference in the championship game (see Ohio State/Michigan two years ago).

by rugman11 on Nov 22, 2008 9:31 PM CST up reply actions

Thinking ahead...

Assuming we win and UF beats FSU, who would the SEC champ play for the NC if Oregon St. wins next week and Missouri wins the Big XII championship game?

I would have to think Penn St. as the only other major conference champ with one loss. The only other possibilities are one of the Big XII South teams that didn’t make their championship game, or USC who wouldn’t even be Pac-10 champs.

2. Florida
