Texas Tech, BCS Bowls, etc.
So Texas Tech plays their first TRUE road game and they get hammered/pounded/throttled or whatever else adjective you want to use. What a bunch of frauds! Utah beats BYU assuring themselves a BCS spot and Oregon St pulls out the win in Tucson to pretty much lock up their Rose Bowl berth (they SHOULD beat Oregon at home next week).
It's looking like Oregon St vs Penn St in the Rose Bowl, a Big 12 team vs SUC in the Fiesta Bowl, and assuming the Orange Bowl takes the Big East and ACC champs, it's looking like the SEC championship loser will face Utah. Hopefully the Fiesta Bowl takes Utah so SUC can face an SEC team in the Sugar Bowl. If that happens and SUC loses, we won't have to hear the nat'l media constantly talk about how SUC can beat any team on a neutral field. And we won't have to hear about how they always play well in the "BIG" games. "BIG" games meaning going to the Rose Bowl and beating up on an inferior Big 10 teams. Thank God for Oregon State and Mike Riley (Bama CB under the Bear from '71-'74).

am I alone in my thinking?
I get a strange sense that this year’s bowl games are going to be a letdown to a great season of football…
wow...maybe...but I REALLY hope not...

I'm looking at the down-ticket games...
And the possibility of a 1 or 2-loss B12S team hypothetically playing USC in the Holiday Bowl. Or, a 1-loss B12S playing Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl. I think it is safe to say that the worst thing for Ohio State just happened today: OU rang TT’s bell, Oregon State keeps winning, Utah won out, UF destroys people…The Buckeyes just got their tickets punched to the Cap One Bowl, I think.
Now, let the madness ensue, here’s what I want for the next two weeks: Oklahoma loses the bedlam game, then TTU loses the Mizzou rematch. Does that put 1-loss Texas in the Nat’l Champ game?

"What a bunch of frauds!"
probably a little strong. if bama gets upset on saturday is their season a fraud??
You shouldn't even...
…put that thought into print, gerry. It’s not positive relative to the process. Aight?

wow...that posted before I was done...
anyway, I don’t know if TTU’s season was a full-fledged fraud, but they certainly weren’t the team that everyone gave them credit for (untouchable, unstoppable, etc.). They’re a very good team, but didn’t live up to the hype. Had they lost by seven, I don’t think the fraud thing even gets mentioned…getting beaten by 30 points or whatever it was…yes, that’ll bring some fraud comments.

yes
my point exactly. i wouldn’t say they were a fraud if it was a close game or even competitive. but it was a complete blowout. TTU almost lost to Nebraska in overtime earlier in the season. then they barely beat Texas at home when Texas was at the end of their 4 game gauntlet. and they hadn’t played a true, tough road game until yesterday.
even if Bama were to get blown out on Saturday, it’s hard to say Bama’s a fraud because Bama’s beaten good teams on the road. at Georgia, at LSU. they’ve also beaten Tenn, Arkansas and Clemson away from home. granted those teams aren’t very good, but it’s a lot more than you can say for TTU.
and besides, Bama wouldn’t get blown out anyway. going back to last year, Bama hasn’t lost a game by more than a touchdown. Bama has a legit defense. can’t say the same for TTU.
