We're Overrated!
...and Fox Sports vomits forth another one of it's asinine photo essays. i was actively shocked to see the astonishingly untalented lisa hornewasn't behind this but rather some junior mailroom intern named Aram Tolegian. the "subject" this time is 'overrated rivalries' and dickweed selects the Iron Bowl as number one for the following reason (quoted in it's entirety so you don't have to give these idiots the traffic)...
Families split down the middle. Hatred burns bright. Blood in the steets. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The bottom line is that the Iron Bowl is rarely a matchup between two elite teams. That's what it should always be, but never is. When was the last time both Alabama and Auburn were among the nation's top-10 teams in the same season? (Crickets). This year is no different. Alabama is No. 1 and Auburn ... well ... Auburn is terrible. Until this game pits two teams having meaningful seasons, it will remain one of the most overrated rivalries of the season.hey rupert, wondering why your your company is going down faster than a bourbon street prostitute? it's cause you are trying to pass junk off like this as substanitive content.

i still don't give a shit about what "they" say
i was born in alabama, into an alabama family. i’ve always had friends, girlfriends, classmates, etc that were auburn fans. in essense, we are the same people whose only difference is this one small factor. we don’t pull for the same team. the hell w/ the media. this game means a friggin shit load to the fans and the players. i don’t care if auburn is “terrible”. beating them is all that matters. lisa horne can watch her army-navy game or michigan-ohio state. those games just suck.

The apocrypha...
about 1000 chimps and a typewriter reproducing Shakespeare? Uh, yea…scratch that. One thousand chimps with typewriters and infinite type would more like produce that shit.

i love the defense of the guy in the comments...
…which is along the lines “he’s only doing what his boss told him to do.” well, funny you mention that, because that exact same logic is one of the reasons i quit working for newspapers about eight years ago.
it’s clear that the whole point of this feature is to throw up a bunch of pictures with “controversial” cutlines to get the hits. and they inevitably take digs at alabama because we have a good program and a large devoted fanbase. it doesn’t matter if the item has anything associated with reality – in fact, the more contrarian the better.
i despise auburn with every fiber of my being for a litany of reasons that i don’t have the time to go into here. but know this, i would never take this game for granted no matter how lopsided the matchup would seem to be. the stakes are too high, the feelings too strong and the outcome means too much to each side.
as i’ve mentioned this week… i’d love an SEC championship, i’d be estatic with a MNC but, bottom line, that’s just cream. all i really want from this team, and all i’ve really wanted this whole season, is for them to play well and then, today, take the field and beat Auburn with the awesome fury of the wrathful Lord in the more brutal parts of the Old Testament.

AMEN!!
That's the paradox of success. The moment you stop to enjoy it, you are in trouble. You have to keep moving forward. It's not what you have done that's important. It's where you are going.

I know the guy said...
…the last time both were in the Top 10 and I didn’t feel like researching, but in 2005, Alabama was #8 and Auburn #11 when they played.
