CROOM RESIGNS
FROM THE SUN HERALD IN GULFPORT, MS
Football coach Sylvester Croom is out at Mississippi State, according to radio and television reports.
Reports say the fifth-year coach resigned after Friday's 45-0 loss to Ole Miss in Oxford.
Croom steadfastly refused to comment on his status, saying only that "We'll take a look at that when we get back."
<!-- CLOSE: #story_body_top -->Mississippi State appears to have a successor in mind. Tommy Bowden, who resigned from Clemson mid-season, also coached at Tulane. Bowden left Clemson in October.

Tommy at MSU?!?!?!!?
Go ahead and count those as wins for the next ten years!
When you are an Alabama fan you have to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because i want to.
Actually..
I hate to hear this. Nevermind the race barrier…..this is one of our own who did not succeed. Granted, I never wanted us to lose to him either, but I sort of take this personally. Soft landings to you, Mr. Croom.
I hated to hear it too.
I have a soft spot for Coach Croom. He’s one of ours and I really wanted him to succeed, except for us of course.
Hmmmmm
In a way this is good for me, as my wife is an Ole Miss fan, and gets mad at me when i pull for Croom. Now, i can go back to hating on State full bore with her.
The rumours out of Georgia last night was Croom for UGA D-Cor. which doesn’t make any sense to me…
I'm in no condition to drive...wait! I shouldn't listen to myself, I'm drunk.

I don't blame...
…UGA for shopping around for a D-coordinator if they are. Surrendering 21 points to a 1-AA school and giving up 38 or more five times is not exactly stellar. Amazingly, they were 2-3 in the games they gave up 38 or more in. That’s six pretty crappy defensive performances that they managed a 3-3 record out of, so you’ve gotta wonder what’s up on the D.
In the six games where they allowed less than 20, they won them all, but those were against juggernauts like Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Auburn, South Carolina, Central Michigan and Arizona State.
