is strategy. both teams can use timeouts however the hell they want. saban could’ve used the timeout to allow jpw to get his part right. instead, he chose to allow it to affect the game. saban’s job is to put HIS team in the best position to win. it’s the freakin iron bowl, and those three points wouldn’t have mattered.
