Alabama tailback Roy Upchurch continues to struggle with neck spasms and is "questionable" for Saturday's SEC title game against Florida, according to Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban.
"I still think Roy is questionable," Saban said. "He did practice better. He wanted to play in the game. He wanted to try it out. We played him a few plays. I don't know that he has the confidence that he needs to be able to continue to play, but we'll just see how it develops. He would be a guy that's questionable here in the future."
Roy Upchurch "questionable" for SEC title game
Bad news as far as depth goes, but unless something completely unforeseen happens (knock on wood) to Coffee or Ingram, he was still the 3rd back in the rotation, so it's not as big of a blow as possibly losing Harvin.

Terry Grant came in and did a good job for us.
I was very impressed with the way Grant ran the ball after sitting the entire season to this point. They only gave him a few chances but he made the most of it that he could. Upchurch would be a tough loss but we’re not exactly hurtin in the running back spot.
P.S. what happened to “Running Back U”? haha

Game plans
In a couple games the staff must have seen where they could put him in against certain teams or situations. He had a couple games where he was the leading rusher. I think this would be one of those games. But, we still have some great backs and I’m watching the Aub game again now and saw Ingram make a catch in the flats and take it for about 25.And no it’s not the loss of a Harvin who plays most snaps of every game but a loss none the less. And Grant did do a good job last nite. And I thought Mcelroy played well too.

Grant...
…only had a 43% running back success rate.
He ran it very well on his first set of downs:
6 yards on 1st & 10
2 yards on 2nd & 4
2 yards on 3rd & 2
after that though…
-2 on 1st & 10
0 on 2nd & 12
0 on 3rd & 12
2 on 1st & 10
Granted (no pun intended) they ran him six straight carries and Auburn obviously was stacking the box knowing we were going to be trying to chew up clock, but 10 yards on 7 carries….

He actually ran at a 29% success rate...
…the 2 yards on 2nd and 4 was not a “success” since he didn’t gain 60% of the yardage needed. I’ll have the full post up tomorrow.

Also wanted to add...
…that Upchurch’s two runs were “successful,” giving him a 100% success rate, so he has that going for him, which is nice.

I watched the replay today on CSS...
…they showed Upchurch come out of the game and he was bending over with the med staff checking on him. He was clearly in pain. The spasm deal is a weird injury, but like others said, we have two GREAT RB’s in Coffee and Ingram.
Ingram will be such a beast in the coming years. I don’t think we have had anyone as explosive as he is in a while. When he cuts between the tackles, he definitely doesn’t look like a freshman RB. God knows he took care of some kids in high school ball.

Ahhh...
…I was thinking it was 50% on 2nd. Sleep deprivation will make you rusty on your statistical analysis.
Hope you don’t mind, I didn’t feel I was stealing your thunder on a seven carry performance.

Off the subject
When Pj shanked that punt early in the 4th , why do you think CNS got so pissed. I just saw it again and he was ticked!

Because he shanked it...
It doesn’t matter what the score, the time left, the opponent, whatever, he wants his players to execute on every single play. That’s why we’re 12-0 right now.

Who could argue with that
I thought maybe he tryed to put it out inside the 20 instead of just kickin it.

In part...
…because JP and Julio had just failed on the previous play, then came off the field smiling about it, but also because there’s no excuse for a punter to miss that badly at this level. CNS always coaches like we’re down a couple of scores…which is why we never are.

Kickin game
I guess we can’t afford to help Florida with good field position.

Disappointing...
This stinks for Roy. From all accounts he’s a guy who really worked his butt off in the off-season to buy in and convince the coaches and his team-mates that he wanted to be a big-time contributor to the team. With all the injuries he had earlier in his career, it would’ve been easy to give up and quit. I hope his spasms abate and he can get back on the field soon.

Not too concerned
Terry Grant is a certifiable BA running the ball, just maybe not as versatile as RU.
im not impressed with your performance
