Buying tickets
So...., it has been awhile(never) since I have gone to Atlanta for the SECCG. Can any of you tell me the possibility of buying my tickets there(wife and I) and how much coin I will need. Stubhub and others have them in the 4 to 5 hundred range. Should I go ahead and get them or take my chances in Atlanta where I would think they would be cheaper, if I knew where to go. It has been my experience buying tickets only at T-town, where I can usually get them hanging around the quad/strip.
Any ideas/recommendation appreciated. I would hate it but I will watch in a bar/pub in Atlanta if we don't get tickets.

Good Luck
I live in Atlanta, and this game is extraordinarily difficult to get. It should be even more tough to get than the Clemson/Alabama game, which went down as one of the toughest tickets in history (think Olympics ’06). I was at that game, and there were probably hundreds of people outside the stadium looking to buy tickets. I already know of quite a few people who will be down there looking for tickets. I would say the best place to find people selling tickets will be around Mitchell St in the back of the Dome, if there are any. Good Luck!

be careful
GA Dome is notorious for scam tix…its a tough venue to get even for crappy events because of so many corporate tie-ins

Also...
…scalping or even selling tickets for face value on the street appears to be illegal in Georgia (or at least Atlanta). I was selling some tickets for a concert in downtown Atlanta for face value last year over (friends had to bail out on going) and a policeman told me it was illegal. He also then told me he wouldn’t be able to see me sell them around the street corner. Sounds like something they have to enforce, but don’t like to enforce.

There are signs
all around the Dome that say “no selling tickets with in X amount of feet of the dome”. Of course im paraphrasing but you get what im cooking..
When you are an Alabama fan you have to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because i want to.

They arrest
scalpers in Atlanta. Serious they take them to jail. Which means tickets are even harder and more expensive to buy because of the risk. I’ve got mine already, but Sat. on the street I’d think $500 each would be good if you could find them. I’d jump all over any $250 deal if you know the seller.

SEC Championship Tickets
I cannot emphasize how great the demand for these tickets will be. Gary Stokan of the Atlanta Sports Council has said that the demand for these tickets will rival the 1996 Olympics. It is simply amazing the level of interest, and demand for these tickets. This will easily be the most sought after SEC Championship ticket. I have had luck scalping these in the past, but it will be difficult this year. If you are looking for tickets, wander around the tailgating areas. You are much more likely to find a good deal around there.

Tickets
Scalpers typically hang out right at the North Ave Exit from 75/85 at the entrance to the GA Tech campus. North Avenue hits Northside Drive, which, if you turn left, leads to the Dome. There are always scalpers along Northside for Falcons games, so my guess is they will be there for the SEC as well. I think it will be tough the closer you get to the Dome, as the number of buyers will be huge.
The prime seats are actually dropping on Ebay from last week. They were about $575/ea for lower prime (between the 30s) last week and now they are going for $500-550. The difference is small, but encouraging. It seems like the non-prime seats have gone up a bit from $350 last week to $400 this week.
Tickets are a funny animal – you never know if they will go up or down the day of the game. The forecast calls for cold – highs in the 40s. Obviously, it will be 72 in the Dome, but you may factor that into your decision to hunt tickets all day.
A couple other points – the above are right on about scalping. Don’t do it next to the Dome – there are cops everywhere enforcing that area. If you walk a couple blocks down, you should be fine. Also, they check tickets in the Dome for all lower level seats. You have to have a lower level ticket to enter the lower concourse. Keep this in mind if you are buying separates and hope to assemble your party once inside.
If you get shut out – there are a couple bars downtown, like Stats – but they are likely to be mobed. You are probably better off heading to Cheyenne Grill – which is in South Buckhead. It is an Alabama viewing bar.

Good luck – I am looking forward to a classic this weekend.
