Your RBR Friday Random Ten

It's going to be a long weekend, kids, since there's no football (unless you count the NFL, which you shouldn't) 'til next weekend, but at least you'll have the random ten to keep you occupied for about three minutes!  If you don't know how to play, put your iPod/iTunes/Zune/whatever on shuffle and list the first ten songs that come up.  No cheating to make yours look cooler.

  1. Gladys Knight and the Pips - I've Got to Use My Imagination
  2. Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion
  3. New York Dolls - It's Too Late
  4. Emmylou Harris - Precious Memories
  5. The Flying Burrito Brothers - Six Days on the Road
  6. Otis Rush - All Your Love
  7. Hank Williams, Jr. - Midnight Rider
  8. George Strait - I Can Still Make Cheyenne
  9. Foghat - I Just Want to Make Love to You
  10. Elvis - Return to Sender

And since the New York Dolls popped up, ladies, your beefcake this week is Mr. David Johansen, better known as Buster Poindexter.

When I did this one...

…I thought “this is probably the most reflective random ten yet.” Good classic rock, good country, some blues and soul thrown in….the only thing that would have made it better would be some Hank, Johnny Cash, or Bruce Springsteen. Then it would be a signature ten.

I don't ever meet women that are Alabama fans it seems.

Obviously I know they exist, but I’ve never dated an Alabama fan. Most women I meet hate football or at least hate how it dominates people’s time. I’d prefer an Alabama fan for sure, but like I said, at this point, apathy about my love of football is all I’m looking for in a woman (regarding football related stuff that is.)

by Nico2.0 on Dec 12, 2008 10:00 PM CST up reply actions

Well...

…if you’re just looking for company, it doesn’t matter, but if you’re looking for something long-term, you want more than apathy. She doesn’t have to love Bama (though it helps mightily), but she has to love that you love Bama. The last thing you want is for either of you to resent the other because of something that you love. But again, if you just want a little fun, it doesn’t matter a bit.

Hmmm
…if you’re looking for something long-term, you want more than apathy. She doesn’t have to love Bama (though it helps mightily), but she has to love that you love Bama. The last thing you want is for either of you to resent the other because of something that you love.

I see what you’re saying and maybe what I’m about to say is the same thing stated in a different way, but I’m not pretending to be able to read your mind. Anyway, I feel like if a person loves that you love a specific thing (in this case) Bama, then I kind of feel like they would get it too and also love it. I can agree with the notion that a person should love the fact that you have interests/hobbies and passions and that they love that you love something, but I’m not sure that it’s important that they love that you love what you love (unless it were somehow detrimental.) You know? That’s what I was kind of getting at when I was saying “apathy” earlier….if that makes any sense.

by Nico2.0 on Dec 12, 2008 11:35 PM CST up reply actions

Oops

Closed my parentheses too early:

(in this case) Bama

by Nico2.0 on Dec 12, 2008 11:36 PM CST up reply actions

It makes sense...

…and I think we’re on the same page. I’ve just seen a few people make commitments to other people whose ‘apathy’ turned into negativity after the marriage/cohabitation/whatever, and that obviously sucks.

by NiceLittleSaturday on Dec 13, 2008 12:02 AM CST up reply actions

I'm still stunned...

…that you missed the Colorado game over that TN girl. What does that say about her to want you to do that? IMO, that spelled doom for the relationship right there. Amazing to me that you’ve NEVER dated a woman who’s an Alabama fan? How can you live in Alabama and not meet women fans that you want to date? It must be something to do with your musical tastes. lol

G. Love & Special Sauce – Baby’s Got Sauce
Counting Crows – Mr. Jones

Jelly Roll Morton – Mint Julep
Richie Havens – Lay Lady Lay
Scissor Sisters – Mary
Lynyrd Skynyrd – Gimme Three Steps
UGA Redcoat Band – Glory
Lil’ Wayne – Dr. Carter

and yes, I do have the Redcoat Band on my ipod. It makes gameday a lot better and is a nice surprise about mid-march when I’m in football doldrums.

At present....

I have 4,838 songs on my iTunes, four of them are by the MBD. That’s 0.08% of what’s on this machine. With 10 songs a week, there’s only a 0.32% chance one of them will show up.

by Nico2.0 on Dec 12, 2008 9:49 PM CST up reply actions

Actually...

I think it makes it a 0.8% chance that one will show up. I can’t remember how to tabulate that crap. I haven’t taken a math class in so long. The point is this: 1) who cares what the actual probability is and 2) It’s pretty freaking low.

Sorry so late in the day...

…but I hope you enjoy today’s ten.

1. Elvis – Santa, Bring My Baby Back (To Me)
2. Simon & Garfunkel – Homeward Bound
3. The Replacements – I Will Dare
4. AC/DC – Shoot to Thrill
5. Rufus – Tell Me Something Good
6. Blues Brothers – Rubber Biscuit
7. Prince – When You Were Mine
8. Rolling Stones – Faraway Eyes
9. Ray Charles – Hey, Good Lookin’
10. Commodores – Easy

your dating connection here

I am a highly successful, amateur match maker. Really. I enjoy it, having been a sociology major before law. Other lawyers do divorces—I like the challenge (but darn, it’s free) of getting people together. And I know a ton of people, having lived in Mobile and Baldwin my entire life, except law school in T-town. If you really want to meet someone good for you, just send me your info and I’ll go to work on it. I am responsible for several marriages and each couple is still happy and they hug me and thank me whenver theye see me. One of them is a top law enforcement guy, so that’s good that he still likes me. And believe me, I’ll find you someone nice, pretty, smart, appreciative, and fun who means it when she says “roll Tide!”
