Around SBN: Newcastle Battle Injury Woes Ahead of Tottenham

A big thank you to the 2008 team.

I posted this on another site but thought I would repost it here because I think this team deserves all the accolades it can get.

__________

Alabama teams are clearly judged by championships but this team will go down as an all-time great in my opinion because of some the moments it created. There were some truly classic moments but a few of my favorites include:

1) The ATL beat down on Clemson: Given the total in your face euphoria of Clemson fans before that game, the beatdown on Bowden was one to remember (and I never liked how Bowden used the Alabama job to get a raise back in 2000 and how the Clemson AD rolled over like a dog during UA's NCAA appeal).

2) The 4th quarters of the Tennessee and Auburn games: Those 4th quarters had to have been like Chinese water torture for Fulmer and Tuberville (two of the slimiest guys in football). The games were out of reach and the Tide just systematically ground them into the turf during the 4th quarters. The look on Fulmer's face when we converted a 3rd and 9 with a few minutes left and the look on Tuberville's face on that final TD to Maze were priceless (and by the way, where did the Tuberville smirk go?).

3) OT in LSU: Ripping their hearts out in OT helped make up for the heartbreakers in 05 and 07.

4) The first half of the Funeral Game in Athens. Just beautiful.

We didn't finish off Tebow (and I was hoping to get a payback shot at Stoops) but this team created some lasting memories.

All in all, a very good year.

Well said...

It’s hard to believe that there’s only one more game to enjoy watching this team that has become so special to all of us. I believe a championship will come soon for one of our teams, but we should all remember that this team paved the way.

Do you know that

guy in this picture?

Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

No...

I was in the student section during the second half and there were a lot of television cameras and other media taking pictures. He was holding up the sign a lot towards them, as well as to people in the stands. There were a lot of Dawg fans surrounding the student section to taunt, you know. I assume he brought it to get on GameDay. Do you think you know him?

What a tremendous team!!

Some words become immortal because they say it just right. So, to quote Bob Hope, “Thanks for the memories!”

This summer was the worst of my life. We almost lost our daughter. During a couple of the first games, she was still on IV’s, so this Cinderella team was our most wonderful distraction. Then we celebrated the removal of the PICC line by going to WKU. Then we kept going to games because it was so much fun to see this team, full of heart, play! I was at UA for some of the golden years—1977-1980, but not even those seasons will remain as close to my heart as this team, this year. Thank you players and coaches!

Here's to a healthy kiddo and a lifetime of happiness with her.

This year was a great distraction…one which my kiddo and I’ve been able to enjoy via phone (after baby mama went 1500 miles south with the kiddo). I just can’t imagine your anxiety: I’ve had the same freakin’ nightmare (just a dream) about my kiddo for 10 years…And it’s damned hard to check on her from 1500 miles away!

Good luck :)
