What If Sports

Don't know if you all have seen this, but whatifsports.com's computers seem to think Utah will win it on a last-second drive and a 51-yard FG by our All-American kicker.

What If Sports previews the Sugar Bowl.

I would be pretty surprised if Coffee Runs for 191 and Ingram for 121 and Utah still wins the game.  The two lost fumbles and the two missed FGs really seem to be the difference.  I wouldn't be surprised if the team that wins the TO margin wins the game.  Of course, I'm a Ute, so I still think we have a chance against you.  I know many here feel differently.

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

this is crap

like the third play of the game… incidental facemask???? no such thing… also they say that coffee will break a 76 yard rush… AND NOT SCORE A TD… i cant take these guys serious… not that you are supposed to… but still.

Yeah, looks like their computers still have the old rule books.

Apparently they’ve left in the old rule about incidental facemasks.

As for the 76-yarder, that makes no sense to me either unless a corner ran him down from behind. A couple of our corners are sub 4.4 forty guys, but that’s still stupid.

Nevertheless, they’ve been pretty good this year (over 70%). I’m taking it as a sign of hope for my utes :D

Any given Friday...

…the underdog can win. We just don’t expect it because (1) Nick Saban coaches our team, and (2) our OL dwarfs your DL. We know Utah is a quality opponent, and we congratulate you on a great season. We also hope you have a lousy time watching the game. Cheers.

I don't know if you saw my response on the line thing

but we’ve faced bigger OLs and our DL is not as small as it was the last 5 games (since we get our real starting DT and NT back). Of course, we don’t have a Cody, but who does?

As for Saban, he’s doing a great job, no question. Certainly worthy of coach of the year. But don’t assume we can’t out-coach Saban. Whitt’s been a great coach with time to prepare (3-0 in bowl games as a HC) and he and Urban have already discussed game-planning Alabama. Just saying, everybody loves their coach (if he’s a winner) but don’t expect him to game-plan circles around our coach. He’s pretty good too.

Also, everyone seems to think alabama will win (espn, foxsports, cfn.scout, sportsillustrated, the Vegas line) so I thought I’d point out when I noticed a contrary view (even if it comes from a strange and unknown computer model). Lisa Horne (from foxsports.com) also picked the Utes, but she doesn’t seem to know football very well, so I didn’t mention it.

I saw it...

…and your point is valid. I know you’ve faced big guys like, say, Marlon and Drew Davis…I just don’t think you’ve faced big guys like Antoine Caldwell, Mike Johnson, and Andre Smith.

You have an excellent coaching staff, as evidenced not only by your team’s performance this year but also by the fact that both your coordinators will work for different schools next season. My point isn’t as much about game-planning as it is about having our heavy favorite of a team mentally prepared to face Utah. I’m guessing he has our guys believing they’re already behind in the game by now and have to bust their butts to seize control of things.

I appreciate you posting the article, ‘cause most of us here can’t get enough of this sort of thing. You could have even posted the Lisa Horne thing, regardless of the fact that she doesn’t seem to know football very well. Usually if something has ‘fox’ attatched to the title, it may look pretty, but it’s gonna be fairly shallow on content. We’ll read it all, though.

I dunno… if they just go ahead and quadruple cover him it might work out like that. It takes, what, three people (bare minimum) to tackle the kid so if you just cover him with four or five to begin with surely three of them will be close enough to tackle him when he catches the ball.

No Upchurch yardage

The computer didn’t read about his surgery…

Still though, nice to have reasonable fans from the opposing team post:)

Basically, it's the Kentucky game

Utah is better than Kentucky, whom we beat by 3, so I guess by that measure I can see it. And by I can see it, I mean it would be the last thing I see as I will jab a kabob skewer into my eyeballs if we lose that way.

Lisa Horne??

Who the hell is Lisa Horne?

And what the hell does she know about football?

by figtide on Dec 22, 2008 1:04 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

It appears she knows very little.

Like I said, I have no delusions based on Lisa Horne. I am developing some delusions because of whatifsports, but they’re small ones.
