"The Legend" going pro?

Earlier today The Legend of Terrence Cody updated his Facebook status. It was not good news for us 'Bama fans. His status was "Terrence Cody is going pro." This is Facebook, so take it for what it's worth but I think it probably is a sign that we are going to be losing a very enormous (literally) part of our defense. I am not sure how easily we can replace someone as talented and massive as Cody.

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

Dang

Cody will be missed. Chapman and Dareus should do a fine job.

Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

That could mean so many things. From what I’ve heard, he has stated many times this year that he plans to stay for next year.

The new rookie salary cap has been changing some minds lately. It’s also real easy to say you’re going to stay for another year when you’re not staring down the barrel of millions of dollars. That, combined with the injury scare could easily have brought to the forefront how much money he stands to lose if he gets hurt next year.

by PeteHoliday on Dec 18, 2008 4:08 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly...

It’s all about the rookie cap. 2009 draft is the last chance to get in on beaucoup bucks with rookie signings.

Again, though...

I think he really needs another year to develop his stamina and show that he can play injury free for a season. Yes, he’ll go top 15, and it will look great for those interior guys we recruit, but…

If he'll go top 15...

…then he should go (but tell him I think he should stay, OK?).

Has all the rules

be set for the Salary cap. Seems that I remember reading that it Players Assoc. had not agreed to all the rules.

I used to be one of those...

…“finish your degree” types, but if he projects super high and is going to make millions, he should go for it. Why squander the opportunity to be set for life?

by Nico2.0 on Dec 18, 2008 4:36 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

And safe...

e.g., away from the inevitable chops that he will see his entire senior season (think Glen Dorsey)

yeah

as long as you make a few million and don’t squander it, then you can always go back and finish if you really want to.

cody

has seen his far share of pork “chops”!! hehe

by K. brevis on Dec 18, 2008 4:39 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

No worries...

A quoted article from ’Bama Online regarding Cody had him as saying that not only was he returning for his senior year, but that he did not even plan on filing with the NFL Draft Advisory Committee.

And actually, there was a lot of talk on some other forums that the Facebook wasn’t actually his legitimate one. Who knows? Either way, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Alabama judges its team by national and SEC titles. Auburn judges its team by how many times it beats Alabama. You tell me who the dominant team in the state is.

I would love to see him go but,

not for the reason of fear. As an Auburn fan, if Cody goes now that would more than likely bump Senderrick Marks back at least one round if not two and hopefully force him to stay at Auburn for another year, we will certainly need him.

by Mattco on Dec 18, 2008 7:40 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

True enough...

Good point, I hadn’t thought of that.

Cody ain't

going no where but back to the SECCG— I hopeTebow is there, we owe him.

by 5026 on Dec 18, 2008 8:11 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Nah, you don't owe Tebow anything

Do you really wanna play him again after he has another year to refine his skills?

I would say at least he won’t have Percy, but….

I would thnk Tebow is coming back – I haven’t seen anyone project him higher than 3rd round.

by skigator93 on Dec 18, 2008 9:15 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I do...

…really, really wanna play him again. He can refine his foreskin-cutting skills all he wants.

by NiceLittleSaturday on Dec 18, 2008 9:21 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

yeah

I’m “praying” tebow goes pro!! actually every SEC fan (except florida) should be praying the same thing… I got the beads and all… I say 100 hail tebows every night before bed.

by K. brevis on Dec 18, 2008 9:22 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

You must...

…work for ESPN…or CBS.

by NiceLittleSaturday on Dec 18, 2008 9:30 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

haha

no, no NLS… recently an auburn friend of mine flamed me for something similar I had posted on her facebook page and said I had a “mancrush” on tebow… all joking aside… because she obviously couldn’t get the point I was trying to make in a joking way… is that the best thing for other schools in the SEC is to get tebow not to play college ball anymore. there just isn’t much of a counter-weight from an opposing team for this kid. now, I’m a diehard bama fan… and would rather not have to face this joker running the florida offense again. so teBOW go PRO!

by K. brevis on Dec 18, 2008 9:51 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

BAMA "refining" their skills...

…might be JUST AS SCARY or MORE SO, skigator. Yeah, I want to play Tebow again.

Are y'all saying...

…we are going to lose Cody and Andre Smith but UF gets to hang on to Tebow for another year? That’s so un-FAIR! sniffle.

May I have some cheese, please?

Not Cody

He says he is staying.

Tebow is losing his top 2 receivers – Murphy is a senior and Harvin is long gone.
But something tells me that we’ll probably have some new guys coming in at that position….

just came up on the cover of yahoo sports
