Tim Tebow Seeks NFL Draft Projection
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3777889
Quarterback Tim Tebow, who's already won a Heisman Trophy and a national championship during his career at Florida, will request a projection from the NFL advisory committee on where he could expect to be selected in April's draft.
Tebow, who hopes to win a second national title with the Gators when they take on Oklahoma on Jan. 8 in the FedEx BCS National Championship Game, told reporters Wednesday he's not leaning one way or the other.
Most NFL analysts do not believe Tebow will be a high pick in the draft, regardless of when he comes out, because he's not considered a prototypical NFL passer. ESPN's Todd McShay, director of college football scouting for Scouts Inc., said recently that he doesn't believe Tebow will be drafted in either the first or second round if he leaves Florida.

Really?
he wouldn’t be considered a high pick? I would think that he has great potential and a willingness to learn looking at the strides he made between his freshman and sophomore year. And then his maturity progress between his sophomore year and junior year.
Do I think he is the best qb prospect as of now coming out? probably not but a year in a good system and he could be a top 5 NFL quarterback.

Doubt it...
…if he wants to play in the NFL, he should ask Urbie to move him to LB this Spring. Or safety.

He can...
Carry a clipboard, earn League minimum for 10 years to subsidize his foreskin vacations…I don’t really care, so long as he’s no longer making sweet sweet love (HT: Chef) to his teammates in Orange and Blue.

I can see the letter now...
Dear Mr. Tebow:
We have reviewed your projection request and believe that you will be at best a low 3rd rounder and be forced to play tight end or fullback in the NFL. We understand that you are no bigger than Jamarcus Russell and are a far better quarterback, read defenses better, and make better decisions. However, you have what we refer to as a “noodle arm” so you are not an NFL prospect at quarterback. We look at arm strength and release motion only, that is why Matt Stafford is projected as the #1 overall pick even though we all know he makes poor decisions and too many bad throws.
Now go enjoy your senior year at UF where you are appreciated.

When you post...
…right above the box you type your message in, you will see a ‘B’ for bold, an ‘I’ for italics, then an ‘S’ for strikeout. Simply type what you want struck, highlight it, and click on that ‘S’.

Tim
I think you should go pro. You have nothing more to prove in college. Let Meyer run his offense without a freak of nature like you at quarterback. We’d like to have a chance next year.
Sincerely,
Your friends from the SEC

In all honesty
he has about as much chance to succede in the NFL as did Danny Wuerffel. Smarts only gets you to a certain point. If you can’t keep the safetys 15 yards down the field, your team is going to lose.

Uh
What about Peyton manning? His strength isn’t his arm, it is the fact that he is smarter than about 30 of the OCs in the NFL.
I think Tebow could be a good one with a little more tutelage under a good system. I don’t think he could go in and carry an NFL team like Vick did with the Falcons a few years ago, but he could certainly be a good system quarterback like a Jay Cutler or a Tony Romo.

I wasn't necessarily saying it that way
I meant a system quarterback as in he doesn’t have to carry the team. They both need the run to support them in the passing game and I think Tebow could do this well. I didn’t mean them as system quarterbacks as in they throw to areas of the field, I just meant they had a good surrounding system to help them.

I disagree
tebow and danny wuerffel have nothing in common other than winning games. wuerffel successed because he was able to correctly impliment spurrier’s system… aka throwing the ball to a location on the field and not to a receiver per se. it was just as much the receivers responibility to be where the ball was placed as it was the quarterbacks responsiblity to put the ball where it was supposed to be. tebow is like a vick. an extremely gifted natural athlete. atlanta developed an offense around vick to be productive, any smart NFL team would do the same if they drafted tebow as a QB. trying to just force a michael vick to play in an offense like brett farve is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. limiting tebow to pocket passing would be like tying one arm behind your back while playing golf (oh, just incase w00t he can scramble). people like peyton have to be intelligent passers because they lack the mobility of QBs like vick and tebow. most defensive lineman could run backward and still catch manning.
and just so no one accuse me… I’m not a tebow fan… unless he’s drafted by the Saints!!!
so easy... even an Auburn fan can do it!

the saints would be PERFECT...
cause then they’ll have a quarterback playing running back as well as a running back playing reciever.

Why Tebo wants to go pro
This is not a joke, but is serious. A friend who is a doc who does a lot of third world mission surgery knows Tebo and says that Tebo wants to go pro becuase he could do a lot of good with all of that money. I was pretty shocked to hear it, because most young kids want Ferarris and such. But, according to my friend, that is his motivation. His Momma must be very proud.

I thought that might be his motivation.
He may not become a quarterback (although I still don’t rule that out), but someone will give him a chance and he has so much natural talent AND determination that he WILL succeed on Sundays in some capacity or another.

Wow - thanks for the inside scoop
Tebow has actually been saying this himself for more than a year. He never said that he was in a hurry to go to the NFL, just that he thought he would be able to do a lot of good using the large NFL platform.
I think playing in the BCS championship game and attending the last 2 Heisman presentations (and likely a third if he returns) and giving 5 billion interviews can continue to tide him over for another year.

When you visit another team's site
Rudeness is not appreciated. Why don’t you keep your geniusness confined to elucidating your fellow reptiles. And besides, millions of dollars to play in the NFL will do a lot more for the third world kids and buy a lot more medical supplies for my doctor friend to bring to them than another Heisman. Which is what I undertand to be Tebow’s priority and I commend him for it. And also my friend for spending his “vacations” doing surgery for free in thrid world countries.

No disrespect intended
Did not mean to sound rude either – I commend your friend and Tebow both for their humanitarian charity efforts. Please accept my apology.
I think another of Tebow’s major goals is to graduate too, so I am hopeful that will help him in his decision. Based on his projected draft location so far, the new CBA wouldn’t affect his money as much as it will the early first rounders.
Good catch Bammer on the tide reference!

your point of view
Apology accepted. I thought about how your feelings must be about Tebow maybe leaving and realized they are probably somewhat akin to my thoughts about my only-child, beautiful daughter going off to college.
