Apparently it's all over Birmingham radio that Tuby is out at Auburn. Anyone got something official?

Wow
Al Del Greco from JOX is saying it does not look good for the entire staff, including Tuberville. It does not appear anything is final yet.

Not official...
I don’t think anything has been decided yet…true it does not look good for tubbs, but from the news in Montgomery, no decision has been reached yet despite some reports. Who knows? Personally i think its going to suck if that turd skates out right when he is about to get his overdue come-upance.

Buzz on BOL
The Buzz on BOL is that if he is gone, MSU is interested

to the state of mississippi. maybe he will leave Mississippi in a pine box.

after we do the Gators on Saturday, and Urbie voluntarily descends the frigid hellhole in South Bend, that would be a fifth volunteer for the processing.

AU is smart to make a move right now
The other two hot jobs in the country have already made hires and left the big names still on the table. I would go after Leach, Kelly, or Peterson if I was looking for a coach right now. Since Kiffin and Swinney landed at the AU competition for top coaches this seems like a logical move. I think the choices of UT and CU will influence the decision of ND to fire Chuck as well.
I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .

Perception
What does everyone think the perception of this would nationally?
I would have to assume that everyone will hear the standard line that Tuberville is a good coach who had one bad year, and should not be fired by Auburn. I have to think if this is true Auburn will take a beating, at least from a perception stand point.
My guess is that Auburn asked Tuberville to eliminate his offensive staff, and my guess is that he was unwilling to do so. I think Tuberville was willing to open up a few spots, but was not going to eliminate the entire staff. I have to think that is the sticking point.
Also, if you think about it; what is the difference between eliminating an entire staff, and eliminating an entire staff and the head coach?

I don't think Tubs would refuse
to fire coordinators. Loyalty is not his forte. He tosses OC’s under the bus with great regularity

He is INSANELY loyal to that BBQ bunch!
No one knows why!
Barker just said there are rumors they are on the phone with Leach right now! Even Al told him to calm down!

Jox
I am listening to JOX online, and Del Greco is saying that he had coversations with Auburn’s staff. The staff told him that they feel like they are not going to be coming back, and they also feel Tuberville will not be back too. Del Greco is an Auburn homer, but is usually good about reporting things that go on at Auburn. I am thinking this may take awhile.

IDK
Im reading all sorts of stuff on AU message boards, from Mike Leach already getting an offer, to Tubbs on his way to MSU….this is going to get much worse before it gets better, no matter if he stays or goes. There is no way that AU comes out in good light after this one.

I cannot imagine..
…that a coach like Tuberville would go to Mississippi State. I think if it does happen a school like Clemson will be kicking itself for not waiting around to hire Tuberville.

it's semi-interesting...
but I don’t care either way…Bama is goin on a run and we goin destroy Tubbs, Leach or whoever fills in that spot at the Barn…

Follow me here, because the connection sounds rediculous, but FWIW...
Just got off the phone with a buddy who is friends with Houston Nutt’s neighbor. Well, Houston Nutt and Tubs have the same agent, Jimmy Sexton, who told Nutt that Tubs was out and that he (Nutt) better be ready, because Mississippi State is interested. Anyhoo, Nutt told his neighbor, who evidently they talk from time to time, neighbor told my buddy, my buddy told me.
Again, FWIW…

I was told this MSU thing two weeks ago. (They also said Croom was out, but that didn’t seem too shocking) I thought it was BS, but it is the same source that I was told about another big move that actually happened. Now that I am hearing it EVERYWHERE, I am beginning to wonder…

Given Nutt's ownership of Tubby
Why would he go to face yearly beatings in the Egg Bowl, and still have the scant 78 mile drive to get his ass kicked by Saban. There’s also the matter of the LSU team. He can’t nickel and dime his way to wins in Starkvegas. There is almost no history. Recruiting is challenging (to say the least).
The only thing I can figure is that 7 wins per season keep him gainfully employed and duck huntin’ galore.
by Stuck in the Plains on Dec 3, 2008 10:41 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Does he NEED to be gainfully employed???
Geez, if unemployment paid that much, I would take up duck hunting myself! Wouldn’t taking a job mean he would give up the money?
by crimsongirl on Dec 3, 2008 10:55 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Better than taking a yearly beating on a more national stage (Iron Bowl, anyone?)

Are you sure???
When I am at work, I deal with bodily functions and irrate parents who have perfect children for less money than it actually costs to live! If I don’t please EVERYONE involved, I lose my job and don’t get any buy-out, maybe not even unemp!
From what I have read about TT, he tells everyone what to do, doesn’t show up on the recruiting trail, meets with the media and speaks in generalizations, doesn’t have to please anybody, all of the time, AND if he goes to work he makes more money than anybody in the town he lives in and if he doesn’t, he gets 3mil! Then he gets 3mil a year later. Oh yeah, he had to get beaten on nat’l tv——to not have to worry about paying for anything ever again! I bet he NEVER had to wipe a single one of their butts or deal with child abuse/DHR! Yeah, sign me UP!

I have a day every WEEK; it is actually in the job description. It doesn’t bother me anymore until I hear people complain about nothing when they actually get SOMETHING for it! Then I feel like I have to vent. I think somewhere else on the board I did that too; it is the time of year that it spill over—kids get crazy, parents get broke, everyone gets stressed, so I am helpless. January will be here soon and it will be calm again. I appologize to everyone…….again! =(

Update
There is more and more talk that a decision could not be made until Friday. I think it is safe to say that if Auburn’s President does not come out today saying that Auburn is keeping Tuberville, he will be fired. I cannot believe how long they are letting this process drag out. They are making Mal Moore look competent in his handling of the firing of Mike Shula.

Head Barner nutjob...
The Head Barner Nutjob, Mark Murphy, has gone on record saying that the Auburn coaches are “not optimistic” about returning in 2009.
I don’t know if that means just the assistants, or Tuberville too, but either way it looks like major changes are in store.
by outsidethesidelines on Dec 3, 2008 2:27 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
This thing is spreading like wild fire
If AU doesn’t come out today and say SOMETHING i believe there will be a coup attempt in the plains.
We could seriously be watching the melt down of Auburn football. If they make the wrong move here, which it seems they already have, they are going to be in trouble for a long while. When Saban smells blood, he goes in for the kill. Their “decent” recruiting class they have going so far will fall apart, and the new coach or Tubbs will be left with Sabans sloppy seconds.I don’t believe AU has it in them to recover if this thing gets REAL bad.
When you are an Alabama fan you have to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because i want to.
by bammer on Dec 3, 2008 2:48 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I would not..
…go that far and say Auburn will not recover. Auburn is still a relatively large football school, with a massive budget $70+ million. I think the more important thing is what OTS said, it does not matter. I really do not think there is a coach that is available that Auburn could get, and would be competitive with Nick Saban.
by Kenny483 on Dec 3, 2008 2:53 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Exactly
You can have the best coach in the world, but if he can’t get the players he’s nothing. Like you siad, Saban will dominate whoever they might get.
The fanbase is divided, either way this goes. IMO, you will not see a unified AU squad next year or the next year after that. Meanwhile, Saban is pullling top 5 or better recruiting classes and building up a juggernaut. Im not saying AU football is over, well maybe i did, but you are watching a meltdown of epic proportions.

Apparently,
you all make MUCH more money than I do, and have much easier lives! NONE of this stuff he is going through is very trying compared to the reward! If he sued for “all he had been put through,” we would laugh his a** out of court! Come on, he is sitting in a meeting with a guy in a suit, NOT at the end of a gun. His family is safe. His friends are fine. Hell, he’s probably going duck hunting tomorrow to celebrate his firing!
