2009 Football schedule

Does anyone know if there is even a tentative schedule up yet? I know we have heard the Tide should open in Atlanta versus Virginia Tech and Georgia rotates off and is replaced with a home game versus South Carolina. Plus I know we get Tennessee and LSU at Bryant Denny, with little brother breaking in a new coach down on the Plains.

Here is hoping we end the season in Atlanta again as well; then on to bigger and better things than this year.

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

Here's what I found

Not sure about its accuracy, but it’s something to work with:

Here's what we know....

…or what we’ve heard been able to find:

Conference home games:

Tennessee
LSU
Arkansas
South Carolina

Conference road games

Auburn
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Mississippi State

Non-conference

Virginia Tech
Florida International

At some point, I read Northern Illinois, but haven’t been able to find anything on it since I read it.

I think...

… the interesting thing about next season is that it looks like everyone will only get one off week instead of two.

That’s probably going to take a toll on teams lacking in quality depth.

As for the schedule...

I think it’s pretty firm right now. The conference games are set, and the OOC games are effectively done.

The Virginia Tech game is not a done deal yet, but it should be still be on, and FIU is guaranteed already. All we need to do is round things out with a couple of cupcakes. Northern Illinois should be one, and the other one is still up in the air.

I've heard.....

I have read where there is a tenative game AT TULANE as well…everything else I have read here….

That was postponed...

…to make way for the neutral site game against VaTech.

Alabama makes too much money off of home games to play six games away from home.

Wow

There’s a whole lot of non-conference ugly from everyone on that schedule.

Not all bad, just kinda bad

Aside from the usual rivalry games (UGA/GT, Florida-FSU), Bama /VT and UGA @ Okie State jump out at me. Auburn has a couple good ones back-to-back … West Virginia and Ball State, both at home. Miss State and Vandy both host Georgia Tech, which is good to see. Tennessee v UCLA will have high wattage and probably low heat, but you never know. LSU v Washington would be great if we can get our time machine working and go back to 1988. I’m hoping we can get a decent mid-major for our open date. Maybe a Troy or some such team with regional interest.

We will never play...

…Troy or UAB. Bank on that. If I remember correctly, there’s even a clause in the Liberty Bowl contract that doesn’t allow teams from the same state to meet up.

I’d really like to see Southern Miss back on the schedule occasionally. Just feels kind of wrong not playing them and they put up a much better fight than most mid-majors. I’m much rather play them than FIU.

totally agree

That was always a classic matchup growing up. Lets bring that junk back!

When you are an Alabama fan you have to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because i want to.

Kentucky

I’m going to try and hit the Kentucky game next year for sure, in my slow journey on visiting every SEC School, and a game or two in Tuscaloosa. And here’s hoping for a return trip to Atlanta!
