At the football team's banquet tonight, the 2008 permanent captains were announced by Coach Saban. Voted on by their teammates, they were Antoine Caldwell, Rashad Johnson, and John Parker Wilson. This is the second time Caldwell and Johnson have been dubbed with this honor, and before the year only six players in Alabama football history had been given the honor twice.

Sufficed to say, all three are well deserving of the honor, and they should (and will) rightly go down as playing a critical role in restoring Alabama football, even if they will ultimately move on without a national championship ring.

Football banquet

was tonight? That seems like rough timing to me.
Great team captains, glad JPW gets his name in the cement.

They get another chance...

…to spell Antoine’s name right. I was worried that John Parker would be left out, so I am thrilled for him. This shows that his team looked to him as the leader he was. Congrats to all. The banquet had to have been planned before the season when NOBODY thought we’d be playing the night before in the SECCG. I’m sure Coach Saban is making sure they know how special they are.

Nagging grammar point

It’s “suffice it to say”.

Antoine Caldwell

We were hanging out at the RVs after a game and Antoine and his brother passed through. He gave autographs to 10 year old kids, posed for pics, laughed and even talked on the phone to one fan’s friend. He just stood around and chatted for a good 20 minutes. I have to say that every player that passed through the lot was friendly and polite, but Antoine just has one of those personalities where you feel like you’ve known him for years. It’s especially good to see nice guys do well.
