Auburn Student Killed

http://www.oanow.com/oan/news/local/article/auburn_death_under_investigation/7441/
As a Bama fan who is a student at Auburn, I can say that today is a sad day on the Plains.  Last night an 18 year old freshman named Lauren Burk was shot and killed on College Street(the main street going through town).  Thirty minutes later he car was found on fire in the parking lot by the band practice field.  Unfortunately this is the type of society we live in.

that is indeed sad.  I will self-impose a moratorium on auburn talk today and tomorrow.

I
am shocked at how many of our young people are being killed. Its in the news everyday. Even though I am a Bama fan today I say we all forget that and have a moment of thought for this young lady and her family. War!! Eagle!!!

The older I get the more I realize that there..
simply are no guarantees in life.  Unbelievable, young girl being shot and killed.

If you watch enough news you will become depressed.

This type of shit infuriates me and I do not even know the girl.  Think about her folks, her brothers or sisters...

I need a drink.

tubs sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very sad situation
This is absolutely horrible.  I hope they find who did this.  Also, apparently the Auburn administration didn't alert anybody on their text message/e-mail alert system like we at UA (and most every other college) has now after the VA Tech shooting.  I know a lot of the students were upset and disappointed that the first place they heard about the crime was on Facebook or the local news.

You are correct.
I didn't know about it until I heard two guys talking about it as I passed them right before 1:00 this afternoon.  I still didn't know what happened until I got to my next class and asked.  Who knows, I could have sat by him today or passed him on campus.

The first notification I got was a phone call at 4:30 saying rumors of a shooting today were false.  About 20 minutes later I got a text message saying the same thing.

that is sad to hear
I live in Bowling Green, KY,  where Western Kentucky University is (went there until the photojournalism program ran me out of money. haha) and I think at least one student has died every year for the last four or five years.  A couple have been due to drugs (and in one of those cases the student jumped from the 20th floor of a dorm room) and one or two were murdered.  It's always sad to hear.

By the way, you might want to correct the typo or else the police might be coming to your door BigCountry; "Last night an 18 year old freshman named Lauren Burk we shot and killed on College Street"

I appreciate that...
...it is dangerous to talk and type at the same time.
