Your RBR Friday Random Ten...

...is all over the place this week, so I'll just use the inclusion of "Let the Good Times Roll" as an excuse to post a block of Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown YouTubes.

For anyone that doesn't know how to play, just put your iPod/iTunes/Zune/whatever on shuffle and list the first ten songs that come up. It's just that easy!

1. Dolly Parton - Little Sparrow Reprise
2. The Lemonheads - Come Back D.A.
3. MC5 - Motor City is Burning
4. Jet - Come Around Again
5. Ben Harper - In the Lord's Arms
6. Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown - Let the Good Times Roll
7. Lefty Frizell - I Love You a Thousand Ways
8. The Stanley Brothers - I Love No One But You
9. Pavement - No Life Singed Her
10. Muddy Waters - Things I Used to Do

[editor's note, by Nico]
I crashed out early last night and forgot to add my songs into this post. Today, we're having a double dose of bands from Alabama. One from yesteryear and one from today. First we go old school with The Louvin Brothers singing "Alabama." Then we kick things up with the Huntsville based surf rock band Daikaiju.

The Louvin Brothers - "Alabama"

..Pitchfork
I love that shit. Why a 7.2?! were they like one good hook away from a 7.3?

by crbama on Apr 25, 2008 12:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

My mistake...
...I went back and double checked...they got a 7.8, which I guess means they were two good hooks away from an 8.0.

Went on a run. . .
. . before my weekend of debauchery and diabolic deeds. It'll be the only "healthy" thing I'll be doing, besides riding my cruiser from tent to tent at the Coachella MusicFest, unless tomato juice w/my Bloody Marys qualify?:

Yes, I think- is the best answer I have with regards to Bobby Bland/BB King album. I don't personally own nor have I downloaded songs from "Together for the 1st Time" or "Together Again", but my dad is a hardcore Blues and Country/Western guy. That's where all my blues and country music is mostly influenced by- his tastes. So, I remember hearing BB and Bobby on 8-track or LP back in the day, just don't know which album it was from? Bobby's got that smooth creamy Bluesy voice that, if you ain't crying at the end of one of his tunes, you're definitely "feelin' for the mfer"- that's for sure.

Have a good weekend Todd and Nico! (hope the finals went well for you Neek!)
