I was barely old enough to know anything, but when this happened my pops picked me up and threw me on his shoulders. He circled the yard like 15 times. This was when I reached my fanhood.

Penn State Block

That Penn State Block is my earliest memory of Alabama football as well. I have some vague memories of Alabama-Tennessee games prior to that, but that’s the earliest specific one that I can recall.

Great Game

I had the wonderful luck to attend that game. I was living in NJ at the time, and we went to the game because it was close. The 4th quarter was intense. During the last 5 minutes, (afer they got the ball for the last time) the whole stadium was shaking. One side of the stadium would stomp their feet and scream “WE ARE” and the other side would respond “PENN STATE”. Strangely it got pretty quiet after the block.

Certainly one of the most memorable games I have ever been to.

I remember that game

I think pictures fell off our wall from me jumping around the house. Good times…

nothing like a blocked field goal to preserve the

WIN. I remeber where I was when I watched this game. One of my first BAMA memories as well. Seems like we used to block more field goals back in the day. I hope this is a tradition that starts up again. Thanks for posting the video.

This is also the moment...

...that cemented my fanatical faith in the Tide. It was the first time I watched an Alabama game on my own (i.e. not just because everyone else in my family was), and as a youngster I really had no memory of Alabama every losing, so when it looked like they were about to I was insanely upset, but the blocked FG just made me realize how amazing Alabama football really is. That sounds extremely corny, I know, but as a kid it gave me an indestructable feeling about me team that to this day I still truly believe Alabama can win any game they play no matter how bad we are or how good they are.

I...

I used to have a t-shirt with the block on it that said “You Gotta Believe” when I was kid.

Vivid memories

A friend of mine went to the game. Said the PSU fans were the best. Very gracious! He befriended an elderly man and wife who were sitting below him. When we blocked the field goal he threw a stadium cup full of bourbon all over the man and his wife, but he just couldn’t help it!
