Alabama State hit with 668 Violations

Although 500 are "minor", but still.  They were saying this could possible merit the death penalty.  Thoughts?

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The NCAA has accused Alabama State University of 24 rules violations in four sports and charged the school with lack of institutional control.
The university received a notice of allegations last week after an NCAA investigation of nearly five years. The allegations were reported in Wednesday's Montgomery Advertiser.

Nearly 500 of the 668 alleged instances of rules violations involved ineligible football players being allowed to work out in the offseason. Forty of them stemmed from football players whose grades were changed without the knowledge of the instructors.

The alleged violations were committed between 1999 and 2003. ASU attorney Kenny Thomas said the school will meet the NCAA's June 27 deadline to respond but won't issue any other comments.

Holy crap...
...I don't really follow the lower division teams in state, but I have always felt a strange kinship to Alabama A&M (I think because their colors are close to Alabama's?, so in that regard...HAha.

Death penalty?

I'd hate to see them get the death penalty.
What should happen is massive house cleaning of administrators and perhaps some kind of ban on admins coaches from participating in NCAA sports for a while, but don't punish the institution at that level, punish the individuals.

Please don't mention that crap fest
The fans for A&M/State would come in and completely trash the hotel and any nearby restaurants.  It was parties all day and night, and idiots in my apartment complex staying up until 7 a.m. blasting music and bumping their stereos in their cars.  And, no, that is not a racist/prejuidice comment, it reminded me a lot of Talladega weekends 8-10 years ago.

I hope they don't get the death penalty either, but it would be very hard for the NCAA to overlook the severity of the counts after what they did to us.  This came from a 5-year investigation in which the administration was not cooperative.  Coach Cole, who A&M wanted to get rid of years ago, was responsible for most of this and the admin. wanted to sweep it under the rug; it bit them in the ass HARD.  There were actually allegations that the NCAA decided to not include in the final report that stated the HC would take recruits and players to strip clubs in Montgomery with school funds.  It will be interesting to watch and see how the NCAA handles it.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, my Lakers just beat the Jazz for the second game, and my God Andre Kerilenko [GAY-K 47] is an ugly SUMABITCH!
