Inappropriate Ogling: 2009 Alabama Recruiting

In an effort to keep y'all up to date on recruiting matters year round, we're going to start keeping track of both commits and those that are offered. Recruiting is most assuredly OTS's thing as far as keeping an ear to the ground about academics, visits, where they are leaning, and etc., so I'm not even going to bother attempting to keep up with him in that regard. But what I am going to do is make nice, neat little tables and posts for each position so you kids can have a handy guide to who has committed and who is considering the Tide. The widget on the left sidebar will give you a quick glance, and it will have a link to an individual post (like this one) for each position with more information no each recruit. Hopefully this will keep us all up to date on what's going on with recruiting from here 'til National Signing Day.

I am getting a kick

out of the Auburn folks’ excitement over their 2009 class already. They are boasting about having a high number of early commits, but has anyone seen who they are choosing Auburn over? La Tech, Troy, Arkansas State…not exactly the cream of the crop. Compare that to Mr. McCarron’s list of offers on the main page.

I read on Memphis Tider’s blog that this compares to Tubby acquiring a yard full of Taco Bell dogs while Saban gets all the pit bulls :) I liked that alot.

McCarron...

...certainly impressed people this past weekend in Las Vegas and ended up being invited to the 2008 Elite 11 Quarterback Competition. He’s in some great company as former participants include our own Brodie Croyle, JaMarcus Russell, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Derek Anderson, Troy Smith, John David Booty, Andre’ Woodson, Tim Tebow, Chase Daniel and Matt Stafford.
