Hello all, Nico2.0 checking in from lovely Greece (where it's 12:47pm locally, which means it's 4:47am in Alabama.) Glad to see things are going swimmingly at RBR.... Anyway, I'm having tons o' fun and am insanely sore from the hike I went on yesterday. Insanely steep climbs and that thin mountain air had me stopping every 100 yards (or so it seemed) to catch my breath. I used to think the altitude stuff was exaggeration, but after trips to Colorado and now here, it is for real. If you aren't used to elevation, you will tire so quickly.
Amazingly, I've managed to pick up enough Greek to do things like purchase train tickets from station agents that don't speak English and manage to get on the right trains and sit in the right seats and get off in the right places despite everything being written in Greek.
Oh yeah, the Acropolis is pretty incredible. Too bad it's under construction for the next 30-40 years because the cranes all over it distract from its majesty...but only just a little bit. It's still pretty incredible.
Anyway, I'm here for roughly another week and then if anyone cares, I'll post some photos in a fanpost.
Big thanks to BamaVicki for all of her help and advice!
P.S.: To hop on the non-country bandwagon, I'll be seeing Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds here this weekend too!
