Changes to Crimson Tide Sports Network

The biggest news out of this, to me, was that Antonio Langham will be joining Eli & Tom as a analyst for the Clemson game. But, the other guests all look promising, and I eagerly await hearing who they'll have help out with the LSU and Barn games. Who eles do you think they'll try and get? Maybe Brodie on the KC off-week could come down for a game, or Jay Barker!

Antonio Langham???
From his interviews, I don’t recall him being the greatest speaker. Also, didn’t we have to forfeit several games because of him? Seems an odd choice. Let’s get Gene Jelks, Bobby Humphrey and Sherman Williams while we’re at it.

Showing my Age
I just vaguely remember him, and mostly for getting in trouble for using Cocaine in the NFL.

Humphrey and Langham...
Humphrey was a truly great running back at Alabama, and I think he was best tailback we’ve ever had at Alabama. And I’m not in an exclusive club with that thinking either. Had he not suffered a season-ending leg injury in 1988, he would have had a great chance at the Heisman and we would have won the SEC. He ended up throwing away a very promising pro career with drugs - he ran for over 1,000 yards in his first two seasons, and was an All-Pro in his second year - but thankfully he has gotten his life back together.
With Langham, I harbor no ill feelings. If you take away his contributions in 1992, there is absolutely no way we even get to the national championship game - remember… the blocked punt against MSU, the interception for a touchdown against Auburn, and the interception for a touchdown against Auburn… all game-changing plays. Anyway, yes he was the center of the first NCAA case, but again, I harbor no ill feelings. By most accounts, he was drunk in a bar on Bourbon Street after winning the national title - and what rational man wouldn’t be?—and signed a contract with an agent for $400 on a bar napkin. He reported things almost immediately to Stallings and the athletic department, and went about his business. If you are going to blame anyone, you should blame the athletic department for letting him play while he was ineligible.

Didn`t mean to sound so negative
Towards any of those players. I have fond memories of Langham myself, and young people make plenty of understandable mistakes. It just seems like an odd choice is all. I don`t consider Mike Shula to be someone who maliciously acted in any way towards the team or university, but it would be a surprise to see him being a commentator for the CTSN any time in the next ten years.

Oh
And that was an Interception returned for a touchdown in the first ever SEC Championship game against Florida and specifically Shane Matthews with about 2 and a half minutes left in the game after the Bama offense had stalled again, which got us into a 1vs2 showdown with Miami, I believe you meant to say. ;)

sherman
Sherman’s got plenty of free time, but it would have to be a phone patch from the Federal lockup.
I'm in no condition to drive...wait! I shouldn't listen to myself, I'm drunk.
