I like...
I like his prediction that we will beat Clemson, but as a whole this is your typical crap piece from ESPN. Just look closer at the five predictions:
1. Clemson won’t win the ACC: Bowden’s teams always underachieve, and the next year that they live up to the hype will be the first.
2. Paul Johnson will take Georgia Tech to a bowl game: All it takes to to get to a bowl game is 6-6, and with two Division 1-AA teams on the schedule, plus getting the benefit of playing in the weak ACC, it’s not going to take much of anything for Tech to get to that level.
3. Florida State will improve: Translation being that they will do better than 7-5. Not a big task with two Division 1-A teams on the schedule, plus Colorado, and the weak ACC.
4. Duke will win more games: Translation, they are going to go 3-9, which is about what should be expected with Northwestern, James Madison, and a weak ACC schedule.
5. Virginia Tech will slip: Wait… the Hokies won’t make a BCS game in 2008? Color me shocked.
Again, it’s your typical ESPN garbage. They take well-known, really obvious observations, put their brand name on it, and then try to get mileage out of it.

Only one 1-AA win counts toward bowl eligibility unless something’s changed.

thats my
understanding as well. Also, that a school can use a win vs a 1-AA team just once every four years to count towards their bowl eligibility.

so
if a certain team that will go unnamed goes 6-6 again this year, a certain school cough WKU cough will cost said school another trip to the Polan WeedEater Bowl.
BAMA’s gonna win at least 8 or 9 maybe 10 this season though, so i’m not worried about that.

I agree...
ESPN is just… I don’t even know how to put it. It’s just one big joke. At best, as they did here, they take very common and obvious knowledge, and put their name brand on it. But it does get worse… they often recite common myths or just things that aren’t true and people take it as fact. The scary thing of it is that there are literally millions of people out there who will believe everything that comes out of the mouths of their talking heads almost like it’s the word of God.
I’m with you, I read ESPN at times to get a laugh. One of the funniest things I get a kick out of is Pat Forde. His does most of his work with college basketball and college football, but I do find it interesting that they will randomly trot him out as an “expert” in other obscure sports. Like after Barbaro died, suddenly he was the horse racing expert. It’s gotten quite comical over the years to see just how many sports he qualifies as an “expert” for.

going along..
with what you just said about Forde, apparently he’s an expert on Olympic swimming too.

Seriously...
You can make a list of the areas he is an “expert” on, and it’s hilarious to read. Just a few I can think of off of the top of my head:
College football
College basketball
NBA Draft
NFL Draft
NCAA rules
Golf
Horse racing
Olympic Swimming
Seriously, he may very well be the smartest man to ever walk the face of the Earth.

Reece Davis....
Now there’s a Bama boy that picked the wrong company to work for, and all he does is mediate discussions with Kirk & Corso(that SOB).
