Your RBR Word of the Day: enervate
1. To deprive of vigor, force, or strength; to render feeble; to weaken.
2. To reduce the moral or mental vigor of.
| Balancing academics, a social life and football can enervate the most committed players at times, but S&C coach Scott Cochran still finds plenty of ways to motivate them in practice. |

Read that...
I read the piece on S&C coach Cochran. It was interesting, but it felt like every other piece I have read about a S&C coach. It maybe just me, but does it not seem like there have been several of these types this year? I think I have read this same piece regarding every major program’s S&C coach. I understand it, these guys tend to be high energy people who provide great quotes, and spend more time with the players than just about anyone else in the offseason. Still, good piece and seems like he is doing a good job.
Florida S&C
I’m curious if there’s a connection between S&C and no significant injuries … outside of Zeke, and really, what’s any coach gonna do about that? ... or it’s just plain luck. I’ll take luck, but I’d like to think that the S&C program is delivering exactly what our players need. By contrast, did you hear that Florida just lost its 5th player of the summer practice to an ACL tear? I kinda have the same question. Is there something the S&C coach could (or should) be doing, but isn’t? Is there too much heavy lifting in the weight room instead of high rep conditioning? I wonder if there’s a turf issue or even Meyer’s having his boys over-compete … as strange as that sounds. Man, 5 ACL tears. That’s craziness.

I am no elite college athlete, but a lot of it seems like luck. The only time I was ever injured seriously in high school playing sports, was when I was probably in the best shape of my life. I do like how Saban does not believe in tackling, as in taking a player all the way to the ground, except in scrimmages. Of course, I do not know if that is just something Alabama does or if that is something most programs do.
no
Its not just an Alabama thing but a lot teams do not practice the no tackle rule. I know it makes your defense a little behind the eight ball to start the season. Since they aren’t use to full contact. But id rather miss a few tackles here and there, than miss a couple of starters for the season.
Don't take life to seriously, you'll never get out alive.
Gotta enervate . . . .
. . . .in order to indurate! (whew! finally- a word I know. and yeah Todd- I know BOTH of them. for a change)
