A little help
Hey Bammers, I live in Wyoming now, and I had to pay the devil and get ESGP so I can watch the games this year. I do get to fly back for the homecoming game, which for me I could care less who they played, just going to a game is a treat when it involves Bama. Anyway, due to the lack of Bama football on the news, crazy I know these westerners are going to be indoctrinated quickly on THE greatest team in college football, I can only browse the internet to get anything. Thank God for RBR, Tidesports, and AL.com. I was curious if any of you heard how the following players are doing: J. Harris, A. Lawrence, D. Bolton, T. Love, G. Harbin, M. Maze, B. Gibson. I have heard little to no info on these guys, and didn't know if any of you had heard anything. Thanks from the Pokes state.
P.S. Pokes > Vols

Ruh Roh, Shaggy ...
Sorry, couldn’t resist. Anyway, start here (http://www.rollbamaroll.com/2008/8/10/590649/august-10th-fall-practice) and check out OTS’ other fall practice updates for some good info.
I also highly recommend spending the $12/month on TideTV. The money goes to help the program, and you get to see all of Coach Saban’s press conferences in their entirety, as well as lots of other player interviews and other behind the scenes stuff. Well worth the money if you are jonesing for Bama info.

I'll give it a shot...
Here goes my best stab at it:
Jerrell Harris: Looks great in pass coverage, but needs to bulk up a bit against the run. A redshirt year would be nice, but he’ll be valuable enough as a back-up and on special teams to where that might not be a luxury we can afford.
Alonzo Lawrence: Incredible physical specimen, no doubt about that, but he has struggled to pick up some of the schemes. Given the emergence of Arenas and Johnson, he may very well not play this season, and some reports have him likely redshirting. A redshirt would actually be nice, because once this kid gets the mental aspect of things, look out.
Devonta Bolton: Enrolled in junior college.
Tyler Love: Currently working as the back-up left tackle behind Andre Smith, and a lot of people seem to think that he’s our best back-up OL. The stress fracture slowed him, but he’s healthy now. I would love to redshirt him, but depth issues may force him to play.
Glen Harbin: Needs to bulk up, and almost certain to redshirt. He started out at Jack linebacker, but he’ll probably redshirt and spend a year in the S&C program in order to move to defensive end.
Marquis Maze: A great playmaker, and he’s made many big plays so far this Fall. He’s worked both outside and in the slot. He won’t start, but he’ll get some balls thrown his way as a redshirt freshman, so he’s progressing nicely.
Brandon Gibson: Had a good Fall camp and looks to be a solid player. He’ll get some snaps this year at wide receiver and he’ll probably play on special teams, too. In years past he would probably be looking at a starting job this year, but as good as our wide receiver corps is now, it’s a whole new ballgame.

Yeah...
I was going to try to help you out there, but OTS pretty much nailed it on the head. Sorry. But on a side note, wath out for Donta’ Hightower and Mark Ingram. Both have been awesome so far.

Yep...
The former will start, and the latter will see a good deal of playing time.

BJ Scott
what about him? anyone know anything? I seem to remember some folks thinking/hoping out loud that he may even take a few snaps at QB in a David Palmer or Percy Harvin type role. but i haven’t seen his name much at all the lest few weeks.

Scot...
Scott is doing well at the slot position, and he will play some in 2008. Him, Chris Jackson, and Darius Hanks have all taken snaps at the slot position, and honestly all three might play.
As for the Uno package, I really don’t know about that one. That was something that came to being with Applewhite as the OC, and I’m not sure it will included as part of the new McElwain scheme. Either way, whatever is included in that — or whether or not it exists at all — is all pretty top secret stuff that isn’t going to be disclosed. We’ll all find out about that at the Clemson game, I suppose.

Thanks OTS
I must say, your contributions to this site really make RBR a complete source of BAMA info and community. this is one badass blog and it’s been made stronger by your style of writing and analysis.

oh yeah
let’s hope they’re working on somethin super secret and special. I used to freak out as a kid when Deuce would line up behind center, and later on when they’d toss Freddie a bubble screen. I want to BJ Scott take an end around and heave it to JJ for a 60 yard TD. preferably @ LSU
