History of Bama Logo's
We won a lot of National titles with our traditional logo from 1959-1993. Does anyone know why it was changed?

Probably...
...because it’s seriously outdated looking.
People can clamor all they want for tradition and what not in things like that, but having more modern stuff is important.
There’ve been tons of articles and interviews with recruits about thinking more modern stuff (like Oregon’s) is cool. I can’t remember who it was, but there was a recent interview with one of our players that said he has pride it in now because he understands the traditional jerseys, but that he thought they were plain and boring when recruited.
I hope we don’t change the jerseys, but that logo that everyone is so in love with is incredibly dated looking.

Well, then...
Let’s update the update, ’ cause the current primary logo seriously stinks.

yeah...
I can agree with that. Don’t ever change the uniforms but update the update on the logo.

IMO....
I think if they were going to try to change the uniforms I would love to see them do the houndstooth collar ones.

Printing
I heard the new logo was cheaper to print (e.g., on t-shirts). It looks like modern computer vector graphics rather than the former etched/engraved appearance.

I'm actually in screen printing...
....and it’s not any easier. It all has to do with how many colors are in the logo.

I think it would be halarious.....
if we did the Georgia thing and had a blackout against Auburn.

And...
...when did black become one of our colors? A whiteout would copy Penn St. I guess a crimsonout would work, but it just doesn’t have that same catchy sound.

I have suggested...
...calling it “Completely Crimson” in the past.

I like it...
Who do we have to talk to to get it going?

the previous logo wasn’t copyrighted properly so people could use it and not have to pony up to the athletic dept, thats another reason why you’ll still see it one some knick knacks, but only the cartoon elephant logo on the official looking stuff.

I like the old logo
for the sake of tradition, but it had to go. It was too complicated and way outdated. They brought in the elephant over ALABAMA, but it never went over well with fans and it too was busy. The new script A in the circle is here to stay for a while. The university has invested a lot of money in that one and I think it is just fine. The goal is to have the world see that script A and think Bama, just like the logos of the U, Texas, and even Tennessee. I honestly always thought we could simply use a solid shape of an elephant with an A on its side (similar to the logo of the Locker Room in T’town).
As for the unis, they better not change a thing. I hated that houndstooth trim. What crap. I hate those f’in hats too. Man am I sick of those. We look like complete idiots with all those fans in houndstooth baseball hats.
I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .

Script A
Script A FTW. I cherish my childhood memorabilia with the old logo, but I wasn’t totally sad to see it go – when it was retired, it was by far the most “outdated” looking logo. I still remember how bad it looked on CBS’s fancy graphic overlays compared with teams with less busy logos. I was very high on the new elephant logos for awhile, mainly because I associated them with the excitement of the 1998 stadium expansion, the reign of Alexander the great, and the most excitement I’d had as a fan since the ‘92 season, when I wasn’t quite old enough to really understand everything. As time has gone by though, I’ve been happy to see the elephant relegated to a secondary logo and let the script A become the symbol of our team.
While I see the elephants as less fitting into the UA philosophy of timeless and classic aesthetics, I am not in favor of another change in even the secondary logo. Teams that change logos and unis all the time annoy the crap out of me, and I don’t want to be come one of them. It is like the institutions are trying to come up with anything to keep the fans from losing interest and buying merchandise without having to actually do what it takes to become winners.

Script A
The only thing I dislike about the Script A is how similar it is to the Atlanta Braves Script A. Every time I’m over there, I want to “Roll Tide” everyone because they produce that thing in about a million different varieties and then they pass you and you notice an MLB logo on the back of the hat. Argggghhhh.

im with you
i like the A but the Braves games suck now. I was down there a few weeks ago and I told a guy Roll Tide. he looked at me funny and said “Dude, im not a bammer, dumbass.” The A’s looked exactly alike, Both hats where Crimson colored, with a White A. Only difference, on the back of his was the Braves where mine said Bama. im tired of it. Braves should use the A with the tomahawk through it.

Still like the old logo best.
I mean, look at that elephant. He’s pissed and you’re in front of him, which means that you’re about to have a very bad day—which is exactly the attitude we want in a football team.
Neither of the new elephant logos measure up. The first new elephant logo was easy to reproduce, since the colors are greatly simplified. The latest one is the worst—it almost looks like a baby elephant playing peekaboo behind the A.
In the absence of the real elephant logo, I’ll have to go with the script A in the circle, or better yet, the university seal.

Tradition people...
That’s what we’re all about and the old logo has it. If we don’t want the uniforms updated, why do we want the logo? It’s getting more than ridiculous to have so many “present” logos. The scrip A has class, but the problem with it and the Braves logo is not going away. Plus, we have 2 versions of it too.

Why not a line of vintage gear?
Bring back the classic charging elephant for an overpriced line of collectible vintage gear. I pine for the white trucker hat my granddad wore in the heyday of the 1970’s!
