Jacobs Award-winning left tackle Andre Smith will miss "a few days" of practice and may not be available Saturday against Tulane after suffering a sprained right knee against Clemson.
"I don't know if he'll play in this game or not," Saban said. "It's still up in the air."
From Gentry Estes. Andre is a big reason we were able to bully Clemson in the trenches Saturday, so let's hope they are just taking it easy on him with the expectation that we can do the same against Tulane without him. David Ross came in at LG while Mike Johnson stepped over to LT, and considering Johnson was bad enough in pass protection at RT to get moved over to guard, the guessing game is on as to who will be at LT on Saturday.

No doubt
Andre was big in beating up the Clemson line. I think he wil be back by Arky for sure, and you can take nothing for granted in college football (ask A&M), but our D is for real and we should be able to win the next two with or without Smith. But in the SEC we are in trouble without Andre. Even Andre at 60% is probably better than any replacement we have at 100%. Unless you moved Caldwell to LT and brought someone (Cardwell I’d guess) to center.
Just be careful...
From what all I’ve read on Andre, it’s nothing major. It’s a slight sprain, and honestly he could probably go on Saturday if we needed him to. That said, Andre is far too valuable of a cog to risk him against Tulane and Western Kentucky. I figure he’ll get a couple of weeks rest and then be 100% when we go to Fayetteville.
As for the line, I think it may stay relatively unchanged. Love was working at back-up left tackle, but we shifted Johnson out there and put in Ross at left guard to keep the changes minimal. I imagine we are just doing our damndest to save the redshirt for Love.
Either way, I know Johnson struggled at right tackle a year ago, but he should be fine against Tulane and Western Kentucky. It shouldn’t present us any real problems.

I concur...
With OTS. If we can be successful w/o Andre for Tulane and WKU, then the coaches will obviously rest him. If we can’t, then they’ll probably have to put in Andre.
It’s so hard because obviously the coaches are also planning long-term for this season. We really need Andre healthy and ready for ALL of the SEC games. He did look fine just standing around (even came back in for a few) against Clemson, but I’m glad that Coach Saban took him out when he realized that he could.
honestly
after Andre wore down their D-line for the time he was in the game, we still didn’t have any trouble with their line after he went out. I can’t imagine Tulane’s D-line being any better than the line we faced towards the end of the Clemson game. And I know WKU’s line isn’t any better. Don’t think we’ll miss Andre too much for those games.
and...
if I’m not mistaken, Andre didn’t play in the series in the fourth quarter that took the 7 or 8 minutes off the clock did he?
Someone...
Someone mentioned that earlier, but I didn’t recall seeing him in the game. He may have come back in, but honestly by that late of a stage I was just basking in the blowout.
Either way, though, I don’t think there’s any real concern about his health.

i found..
the answer to my question in some article. Smith went out in the third quarter and never came back. Our line never skipped a beat. I think Clemson’s fourth quarter d-line is probly going to be as good as Tulane’s d-line.
